He who comes in to equity must come with clean hands…

The sex-for-marks story rocked the media space in the month of April with a lot of progress reports following the 4 minutes 23 seconds audio recording in a phone call between one Professor Richard  Akindele and Ms Monica Osagie, a postgraduate student of Obafemi Awolowo university. It was established in the conversation that the former demanded Five times of sex from the latter in exchange for marks.

The intervention of several organisations and their interest in the story prompted the university authorities to dismiss the erring Don after a detailed reports from an investigative committee set up to look in to the issue. The university confessed that the media coverage of the story, which has soiled the name of the school in the public domain, can not be disconnected, as a reason, from the dismissal of the Professor. Of course, CCN and some international media outfits reported the ‘sextortion’.

The then ‘Green Eagles’ were at the top of the log with 7 points in group D of the World Cup qualifiers ahead of  their South Africans, Congolese’s and Libyans(annulled their result) opponents within October 10, 1992 and February 27, 1993. "Another phase of your life and academic pursuit is being admitted in to the university. It is a progress everyone wants to reckon with."

OAU Kilonshele News Outfit uses this medium to welcome freshmen to Obafemi Awolowo University, the great seat of intellectualism and cultural heritage. Undoubtedly, this is 'a dream come true' to many.

As a 'freshman', have it at the back of your mind that your primary assignments on campus is your academics. Others are secondary. As a matter of fact, you are first a student before being a member of a students' association or body. That gives your studentship a priority above other things.

However, Four years ( 5-6 years in some cases) is too small to develop yourself in every ramification that you deem fit. Ensure th…

By Nurudeen Ajibade

The Management of Obafemi Awolowo University has continued with the eviction of students from another hostel facility, Awolowo hall of residence, one of the crowded hostels.

The management, in a public release few weeks ago, informed students to vacate the halls of residence by 30th of March, 2018 for  renovation purpose.

However, some of the students on campus are writing their final year projects or undergoing programmes like Teaching Practice (TP) and Student's Work Experience Programme (SWEP).

According to an eye-witness account, the security officers of the University bombarded Awolowo hall of residence and they chased out students with canes and charms.

Some of the victims of the eviction spoke with OAU KILONSHELE. The int…
