Ogunlana Klistivivi In the late hours of Friday evening, when many packed their luggage and got set to travel, the IFUMSA treated the OAU Community to a movie night at the HSLT A premises.  The evening was a grand one as both students and non-students of the association gathered together in the dimly lit lecture theatre to fun-fully wrap up the academic activities of the year with a moment of pleasure, right before embarking on the Yuletide break of the Harmattan semester.  Present at the occasion was the day two one-day president of the student union, Amarachi Nwnakwo, adding glamor to the evening, despite receiving no formal recognition. She didn't stay for long though, as she left after greeting some members of the audience and buying popcorn just outside the venue. The disturbance originated when an agent's identification tag, prominently displaying the word "Wahala," triggered tension among the students present. In a conversation with OAU Kilonshele Reporter, a member of the electoral committee, Simeon Afen shed light on essential details regarding the voting process and eligibility criteria. According to the committee member, only students from part 2 and above in any department within the Faculty of Technology are eligible to cast their votes. Furthermore, to ensure a smooth and secure voting process, he added that students are required to present any means of identification when coming to vote. OAU KILONSHELE At the end of Match Day 3, which marked the end of the group stage of the Great Ife Football League, each of the departments played with another in each group. Their performance was amazing in the Matchday 3 of the League. While some teams won, others were beaten. Let's take a look at a few of them. The Department of Food Science and Technology won their match against the Department of Quantity Survey, where they secured 3 points. Agric Engineering went head to head with Kinesiology and Health Recreation but ended the game at a draw of 1:1.  Economics won against Biochemistry with a score of 1 to 0, while Electronics And Electrical Engineering won against Public Administration. Mathematics maintains group stage topper after the drawn clash against Zoology. History beat the Building department 3 to 2 in the last clash. Meanwhile, on December 18th, the departments that qualified for the Round of 16 of the league were decided after Match Day 3.

Abdulbasit Abdulkareem   The 2023 West African Universities Games (WAUG'23) commenced at the Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU), Ile-Ife on Friday, 15th December, 2023, signifying the arrival of participating universities across the region. However, today, 16th December, witnessed a moment of confusion among students as the expected kick-off did not materialize. In a chat with OAU Kilonshele, Great Ife Students' Union Director of Sports, Sumbade Saudiq, provided clarification, stating that December 15th was reserved for the arrival of all participating universities.  Lawal Olanrewaju   The Electoral Committee of the Nigerian Institution of Mechanical Engineers Students Association has declared Ademiluyi Desire the winner of the election that was held in the department on Friday, 16th December.  Ademiluyi Daniel Desire (Desire-Desire) emerged as the winner over Aiyepegba Ebunoluwa Oluwadamilola ( TOPAZ) with 51 votes and last, Osho Fayokunmi Joshua ( Hon Fayorr) scored 30 votes. The election, which spanned across various levels of the department from Part 2 to 5, saw Students of the department troop out in numbers to cast their votes for their preferred candidates that would represent them at various offices. After a rigorous process, the election began fully as the electorates lined up in files to cast their votes for their preferred choice. Edun Precious The West African University Games (WAUG) has been slated to commence on the 15th of December 2023 and guess which institution is hosting this edition? 'Ma je ko lo far' (Don't think too much), it is Oba Awon University. The renowned Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife known as Africa's Most Beautiful Campus will play host to several participating institutions at the OAU sports complex. WAUG, also known as ECOWAS Students' Games, is a multi-sport event among student-athletes from Universities in the African sub-region. It is always held at a 4-year interval and the last edition took place at the University of Port-Harcourt, Rivers State in November 2018. The information was confirmed by the Students' Union Public Relations Officer (PRO), Omisore Elijah, who stated, "At the instance of the Committee of Deans (COD), the Vice-Chancellor has consented that the freshers' matriculation be held on Thursday, January 11, 2024."
