OAU STUDENT OUTSHINES OTHER UNIVERSITIES AT ABUJA.

    Idowu Jamiu, a part 4 students of the department of Civil Engineering, Obafemi Awolowo emerged a winner of the essay contest organized  as part of the activities for the 15th International Conference and Annual General meeting of Nigerian Institution of Civil Engineers (NICE).     The conference tagged 'Unity 2017' with the theme- Civil infrastructure development in a challenging economy, was held in Abuja and it had several Nigerian universities such as University of Uyo and Federal University of Agriculture Abeokuta as participants.    The essay topic was "Engineering Education in Nigeria: a status quo to be maintained". Ibokette Wisdom from University of Uyo and Adeoye Adeniyi  from Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta came second and third positions respectively.     "It is a great honour and privilege to emerge as the overall winner of this national essay contest. LEGAL FIRM ORDERS FOR THE REINSTATEMENT OF OAU SUSPENDED STUDENTS.

                                 Trailing the suspension of the four students of Obafemi Awolowo University, a letter issued from Alfred Adegoke Chambers in Osun state to the varsity management demanded for the immediate reinstatement of the Students.     The law chambers' client is Omole Ibukun, a final year of the department of Civil Engineering, a student activist and a secretary of the Education Rights Campaign.    The law firm tagged the act of the school as arbitrary and unconstitutional as against the provisions of the 1999 constitution of the federal Republic of Nigeria that states that; no one should be denied the entrenched rights.     Also, the letter issued on 25th of October stated that their client was at Osogbo for private family engagement on the day of protest; implying that Omole Ibukun was not involved in the protest.       After giving various premises for arguments against the suspension of their client, it was stated in the excerpt of the letter th

                   Mozambique Queens                             Alumni babes Akintolites Team   In the last weekend, female hostels'  teams proved their prowess on the football pitch. During the inter - Hall female football competition organised by the office of the Students' Union director of sports, the 'mainly freshers' female hostel named after the country, Mozambique, took the first position.           The competition that was played in Adekunle Fajuyi Hall football pitch had the Four female halls of residence; Mozambique Queens, Alumni Babes, Moremite and Akintolites, as participants.     At the first match Mozambique Queens played a deuce of 1-1 against Alumni Babes. It resulted in Penalty kicks, 6-5 as the score in favour of Mozambique Queens.     Also, Akintolites won Moremi with the result of 3 goals against none. CONVOCATION CEREMONY SET TO HOLD IN THE 3RD WEEK OF DECEMBER.

         In respect to questions posed by 2015/2016 graduates on the convocation ceremony of Obafemi Awolowo University, OAU KILONSHELE was able to gather that the convocation ceremony will be held in the third week of December.      Speaking with the Public Relations Officer of the institution, Mr. Olanrewaju Abiodun, he affirmed that the information as regards how those qualify for the ceremony will go about the application will be out when due.     "Necessary information for the application for convocation will be passed on to the people involved. FREE MEDICAL TESTS DURING PANS WEEK.

    As part of the programmes lined up for the Pharmaceutical Association of Nigerian Students (PANS) convention that is being held for a week, free medical tests and drugs were dispensed to students in Obafemi Awolowo University on Thursday.    The week long event, which commenced Monday, 23rd of October had pharmacy students from Nigerian universities, such as University of Nigeria, Nsukka; Usman Danfodio University amidst many others, as participants. 'Synergy' as the theme of the convention, was hosted by the faculty of pharmacy in Obafemi Awolowo University.          The exercise cut across medical tests ranging from Malaria to Hepatitis to Hiv/Aids and so many students benefited from the charitable development.      Mr.Ajayi, a student and one of the beneficiaries, was diagnosed of malaria and was immediately given free drugs. OAU PRE-DEGREE REGISTRATION CLOSES TODAY.

      This is to inform candidates who have registered for the 2017/2018 Pre- degree programme of Obafemi Awolowo University that the entrance examination has been scheduled to hold on the 1st and 2nd of November, 2017.            Registered candidates are expected to login here http://oaucdl.edu.ng/pre/  using their Username and password in order for them to print out their exam slips.      The deadline for the application of 2017/2018 Pre-degree closes on the 30th of October, 2017. OAU SPORTS' COUNCIL RECEIVES DONATIONS FROM NATIONAL LOTTERY TRUST FUND.

        The sports' council of Obafemi Awolowo University received donations comprising of sports kits like footballs, jerseys, track suits, bags, foot wears, socks and what have we from the National Lottery Trust Fund (NLTF) .            During the event which took place at the Industrial and General Insurance Company (IGI) building of the university on Tuesday, 24th of October, the NLTF South West Zonal executives led by the Chairperson, Hajia Buari  presented the donated items to the Director of the university sports' council, Mr. Adamu Abu.    Moreover, the members of the university sports' council and Students Union director of sports, Adewumi Michael  in company of some of the varsity's athletes were in attendance.        Speaking with our correspondent the Chairperson of the South West branch of the organization, Hajia Buari, made it known that the intervention is to cut across all South Western Universities.          "National Lottery Tru

     Sequel to the questions from the  2017/2018 Obafemi Awolowo University aspirants in respect to the release of the admission lists, OAU KILONSHELE in early hours of Tuesday, October 14, was able to confirm the modus operandi for the release of the awaited lists.          In a conversation with the Secretary of the admissions office, who sought anonymity in line with the codes and conducts of the Civil service, she explained that the admissions lists will first be released at the faculties' level.          " Those respective faculties will paste the lists while we, at the admissions office, will  compile the released names and send it to the JAMB office." CLASH BETWEEN OAU GALLERIANS AND PARLIAMENTARIAN OVER BUDGET SITTING

   It was a tug of war between parliamentarians and the members of the gallery of Obafemi Awolowo University at the parliamentary sitting which commenced an hour and thirty minutes beyond schedule on Friday 20th of October, at   Awolowo hall Cafè of the university. The sitting began with 36 honorables in attendance.   At its commencement, the speaker of the house asked that the suspension of the quorum be moved; which Hon. yomi jenko from faculty of Education raised the motion rolling and seconded by Alpha T from Health sciences.    The clerk of the house proceeded in reading the agenda of the sitting, after which Comrade Joe from the faculty of Education raised an observation that last submission at the parliamentary sitting wasn't implemented, citing the example of the victimized student and the call for Congress. HUMAN RIGHTS ACTIVIST COMMENDS THE ROLE OF TRADITIONAL RULERS IN THE COLONIAL ERA.

      During the symposium and lectures tagged “TAKING NIGERIAN AND AFRICA TO GREATER HEIGHTS, The place of the youth ’’ in commemoration of the 43rd birthday of Oba Enitan Ogunwusi the Ooni of Ile-Ife, Femi Falana (SAN), a human rights activist and keynote speaker praised the efforts of South Western traditional rulers during the  colonial era. OAU STUDENTS SEEK PUBLIC ATTENTION FOR THE REINSTATEMENT OF SUSPENDED STUDENTS.

   At about 5:30pm on Sunday, Oct 15th 2017, the Student's Union of Obafemi Awolowo University Ile-Ife held her 7th congressional meeting.     The meeting was held as a result of the resolution of the Parliamentary meeting which was held at the level of Awolowo Hall cafeteria. The purpose of the meeting was to deliberate on the issue of the reinstatement of the 10 suspended students; Jacob Oluwatosin Grace (SU V.P), Oluwalade Babatunde(TMC), Udeh John, Omole Ibukun(Hon. IBK), and some post graduate students.       The student union President, Oyekan Ibukun Edward , popularly known as Dr IBK, said the submission of the generality of Oau student is what the union will act upon concerning the suspended student. EX UNION LEADERS PROFFER SOLUTIONS TO THE PROBLEMS OF OAU STUDENTS' UNION.

   In the program tagged 'The platform' under the auspices of the Assistant secretary General (ASG) of Great ife student Union of Obafemi Awolowo University, the former officers of the Union present spoke to the students present and proffered solutions to the problems affecting the Union recently.       The programme, which commenced about 4:45pm on Friday, 13th of October , kicked off with the revolutionary anthem of the great ife student. The AGS, Oyebanjo Olwaseun popularly known as Siewen gave the opening speech and stated need to reorientate all great ife student for a better life in his welcome address. OAU SUSPENDED STUDENTS THREATEN TO TAKE LEGAL ACTION AGAINST THE VARSITY.

          In lieu of a peaceful protest against the 6 days of power outage staged by some students of Obafemi Awolowo University on Friday, 6th of October, some of the students have been served an indefinite suspension letter.       On the day of the protest, 10 of the Students, who partook in the action were arrested by the police force in conjunction with the varsity security unit. NYSC BATCH 'B' MOBILIZATION LIST NOT YET OUT AS D.S.A PROMISES TO KEEP GRADUATES INFORMED.

 Following the rumours trailing the mobilization list for 2017 National Youth Service Corps batch "B" being out,  Oau Kilonshele considered it pertinent to keep the generality of Obafemi Awolowo University students and the general public informed on reliable and informative news.    On Tuesday, 10th of October, our correspondent spoke with a staff member at Directorate of Student's Affairs(DSA) general office and was directed to DSA room 9 to get every necessary information concerning NYSC mobilization.   In room 9, the officer in-charge of the exercise spoke with our correspondent and made it known that the mobilization list for 2015/2016 NYSC batch "B" is yet to be out. "The University management through the Directorate of Students Affairs will put the information out for the concerned students when it is out."  he said. OAU ICT CENTRE SPEAKS ON POST-UTME RESULTS AND COURSE REGISTRATION.

       The post UTME Aptitude Test for Obafemi Awolowo University 2017/2018 admissions was conducted between 23rd- 30th of September 2017. The result of the week-long test was released on October 4.       Many of the candidates who sat for the test complained about some irregularities in the conducting and the released results.        Adedokun John, an aspirant of the faculty of Agriculture, who spoke with OAU KILONSHELE stated that he was given 6/40 in the Aptitude Test score.      Also, Adeniji Emmanuel, an aspirant of the department of Civil engineering and Adewumi Rachael, who filled in for Microbiology had 0/40 as their Aptitude Test scores.      Some students complained about the reduction of their aggregate percentage compared to what was initially released as candidates' JAMB scores were removed from the 'seal embossed' results.       Speaking with OAU KILONSHELE this afternoon, one of the unit head of the ICT Centre of the university, Mr. Olakunle Ph

OAU POST-UTME: CANDIDATES WITH COMPLAINTS ABOUT RESULTS ARE TO LODGE IT VIA THE PORTAL.

     The results of the post UTME Aptitude tests 2017/2018 , written on the 23rd- 30th of September has been released yesterday.      However, some candidates have been having issues with the released results as some are given scores like 0,4,6... in their post UTME score box.      Adedokun John, an aspirant of the faculty of Agriculture was given 6/40 in the Aptitude Test score.      Also, Adeniji Emmanuel, an aspirant of the department of Civil engineering and Adewumi Rachael, who filled in for Microbiology had 0/40 as their Aptitude Test scores.      Speaking with one of the help lines of the admissions office today,  the officer explained to Oau Kilonshele that students with complaints are to fill the form online and not come to the school.          "Who will attend to them in school?
