Prof Elujoba promised the conscious Great Ife students of immediate acquaintance at the famous Amphi theatre to pressure out issues concerned with the welfarism of students. Image
MAN O’ WAR members “threat” to students; OAU students clamour for dissolution  OAU Man O’ War makes Great Ife students unsafe with their incessant harassment and unjust acts. On Wednesday, 17th of August,2016, Great Ife students from various halls of residence gathered at the Senate Building at around 11:30pm to unanimously clamour for the dissolution of MAN O’ WAR association on campus as the members have been camped in Floor O after being mobbed out of their secretariat in Fajuyi hall, topmost floor, due to their animalistic, uncivilized and uncontrollable act in resolving the case of one of their members assaulting the past hall Chairman politically known as “Sonepa” which is just a consequent of several antecedents. According to Sonepa, as supported by the accounts of those present at the time of the assault, it has been gathered without any iota of doubt that these members of Man O’ War are nothing more than thugs camouflaging as students. The account of the assaul

Politics in Bed Space Allocation: OAU

Image
Politics in Bed Space Allocation : OAU Obafemi Awolowo University over the years has been fogged with diverse alleged controversial stories. These stories range from OAU management undermining the Students' Union, rights of students getting infringed in various ways, students getting bullied by disgraceful grades, sudden increment of school fees, unjust rustication of students Activists leading to dilapidated academic calendar etc. Just birthed from this womb of controversial stories is the "Politics in Bed Space Allocation". Antecedently, bed space allocation has always been compulsory for both Fresh students and Final Year students while the left spaces will be balloted by students in other levels. Surprisingly, before the sudden resignation of Dr Durosimi as Acting Dean of DSA, many fresh students and final year students could not get bed space for 2015/2016 session due to a flimsy excuse of excess number of fresh students admitted. After our thorough inv

Image
Dr. (Mrs.) L. M. Durosinmi popularly known as "Mama DSA" has been confirmed to have resigned from office as the Acting Dean of Division of students Affairs,OAU after quite number of years in office due to the incessant clamour from students of her alleged failure to protect the rights of students and promote students welfarism. Some would say she failed the students for her inability to carry out the expected during her years of duty. As alleged, Mrs Durosimi never took the welfare of students as pertinent as she should as the Dean of DSA. The news of her resignation from office reached Oau Kilonshele last night as Prof Elujoba, Acting VC appoints Dr (Mrs) Akinola from Accounting Department as the new Acting Dean of DSA, even though in other reports Mrs Durosimi was alleged to have been fired for her inefficiency. Student Unionism a path to Rustication In Nigeria

Image
It is with great enthusiasm from a frustrated state of mind due to the continuing suspension of Students involved in Unionism in Nigerian Institutions by school authorities that i write this article to "conscientize" the public on the emergence of student Unionism and why it is now considered a path to getting rusticated in Nigerian Institutions. Student Unionism as it is became eminent in 1925 with the emergency of West African Student Union (WASU) and was partly pioneered by some Nigerian students in London. They fought the colonial masters for the rights of Africans. National Union of Nigeria Students (NUNS) inherited the same idealism from WASU and the student union matched on as a platform of change and of informed activism. Perceptively, every student in Nigerian Institutions should involve in Student Unionism to voice against the irrational and unjust treatment of students by the school authorities. Students should stay united and strong to fight against

Image
Adejumo Kabir in his latest article voices against alleged irregularities in Faculty of Arts Students Association. *THE IRREGULARITIES IN FACULTY OF ARTS STUDENTS' ASSOCIATION (FASA OAU)* By Adejumo Kabir.
