Adeniran Tolulope The Committee on School Fees Review established at the congress of September 18th stated that its members had exhausted all peaceful means of dialogue and negotiation, and would not engage in any further negotiations with the management of the University. The Committee made this statement in a press statement issued early this morning, in which it also invited the Alumni body of the University to collaborate with the Students' Union in its effort to maintain the policy of Free Education that was established by late chief Obafemi Awolowo. The Committee noted that the University is renowned for providing an affordable and high quality education, and that this tradition should be upheld. Meanwhile earlier, the Students’ Union, in collaboration with the Associations' Presidents and MSSN’s Ameer, held a meeting with the University Management. Adeniran Tolulope  Just hours after the reduction in the school fees to be paid by students in the 2023/2024 Academic Session, the Students Union has kicked against the action of the University Management to reduce the price of the school fees by just a few amount. OAU Management Meets Students' Union, Reduces School Fees   During the meeting, it was noted that the Students' Union agitated for the 50% reduction of the school fees, for payments affordable to the students. This was made known in a press release from the Students' Union. Also, the Students' Union made it known that its Leadership's meeting with the school management ended in deadlock.  Furthermore, the Students' Union leadership urges students to halt payment for the main time until the Students' Union meets an agreement with the University Management.

 Adeniran Tolulope  Obafemi Awolowo University, after a review of the earlier released School Fees for the 2023 /2024 Academic Session, which was released two weeks ago, has reduced the amount of school fees, after meeting the Students' Union delegates. Earlier, in the congress that was held by the Students' Union, the congress decided that after much perseverance of the school to have a total reduction of the school fees, the Students Union will resort to a 50% reduction of the school fees, while meeting with school management. Meanwhile, on Monday, 25th September, the University management in a Press release by the University's Public Relations Officer made it known that it has reduced the school fees, to an amount that can make the school run effectively. The University Vice Chancellor, Professor Adebayo Simeon Bamire announced in the meeting held on Monday that, the school fees have been reduced to a new price.   Adeniran Tolulope  Olayiwola Folahan , the former President of the Students' union, laid out a number of objectives in his inaugural speech, Reform, and in an interview with reporters from the ACJOAU . He did this in an effort to build a strong students' union.  Numerous events occurred before and throughout the campaign in 2021, leading to the development of his objectives. He did, in fact, complete some of the most concerned students' welfare agenda. However, in his inaugural speech, he quoted a prominent Political Philosopher, Frantz Oman Fanon, who in his book, 'The Wretched of the Earth', wrote: 'Each Generation must, out of its obscurity, discover its mission, fulfill it or betray it'. Adeniran Tolulope  The Great Ife Students' Union in its bid to ensure a significant reduction in the 2022/2023 academic session fees to be paid by students, both fresh and returning students called for a Congress to reach a consensus on demands to be tabled to the Management of the University in a meeting scheduled for Tuesday 19th September, 2023. You'll recall that the Students' Union, last week, had several meetings as regards the sudden increment of the fees. Also, recall that a larger percentage of students are required to pay an amount not less than ₦100,000 for the coming session. Should we just based the condition on the motive that we have also a Economic Problem in this country? In that very article, there were different issues affecting the education system of the country, and it also states some disturbing situation of academic infrastructure, particularly in OAU. Sometimes, it seems frustrating to have students studying in some buildings of the University. Adeniran Tolulope  Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife has released its school fees for the 2022/2023 academic session. In a press release made available by the PRO of the University, Mr Abiodun Olanrewaju, it was seen that the school fees have been increased. The increase in school fees came after the Senate business Meeting that was held on Tuesday 12th September at Oduduwa Hall of the University.  On the press release is the breakdown of the fees which are to be paid by returning and admitted fresh students of each faculty.  The breakdown of the fees is as follows; Faculty of Science/Technology - New Students: ₦163,200                                                       Returning Students: ₦101, 200 Faculty of Art/Law/Humanities - Fresh Students: ₦151,200                                                     Returning Students: ₦89, 200 College of Health Sciences/Pharmacy - Fresh Students: ₦192, 200                                                              Ret

OAU Loses Another Part 2 Student To Illness

A 200-level student, Omoyeni Faith Bukunmi of the Department of Linguistics, Faculty of ART has been reportedly dead after an undisclosed illness.  According to the President of LALSA, Abidemi Abeeb, the deceased was said to have been battling the undisclosed illness for two weeks before she gave up at the University College Hospital, Ibadan on Monday Afternoon. The president of LALSA said he got the information from a Student who was also admitted to the hospital.  In his words,  the president of LALSA affirmed that Faith Omoyeni was a student who was dedicated to and diligent in her academics.
