Habeeb Waliyu Rules of a language need to be learnt for effective usage of that particular language If we intend to use devout as an adjective before a word(noun), do we say "devoted Muslim/Christian or we say devout Muslim/Christian." The correct usage of 'devout' as an adjective that modifies a noun is devout Muslim/Christian Devout : This means believing strongly in a particular religion and obeying its laws and practices. E.g. i. A devout Catholic ii. A devout member of Muslim students society of Nigeria iii. They have a devout Muslim in their family. "Devout" can also be used as a devout hope or wish which means you feel very strongly about something. E.g It's my devout hope that we travel together in peace.
