A Comically Honest Review of OAU Electoral Debate

Peter Oyebanji Yesterday, the students' union electoral debate went down at Oduduwa hall and well, nothing unusual and unexpected happened. OAU students do what they do best - turn up, show consciousness, and not listen because who cares about what you have to say when we all have a pre-determined candidate. However, I actually listened - so you can trust the review.  Office Of The Financial Secretary  Three candidates are contesting for the office of the Financial Secretary - Perolexy, Yusolat, and Legbeti. For this position, only one candidate made his presence known in the debate. I don't know if it was the crowd factor or the accounting factor, but Legbeti dominated the debate. The disappointing thing here was that Legbeti did not dominate the debate because he was exceptional, the other candidates just didn't have a clue of what they were supposed to do and how they should have answered the questions. OAU Elections: OluwaJuedalo, Law Student And Presidential Aspirant, Withdraws After Falling Below CGPA Requirment

Oluwajuedalo, a part 4 student of Law, has withdrawn from the forthcoming students' union election after failing to meet up with the 2.5 CGPA requirement specified by the electoral commission. In a statement released by the movement, they apologized to supporters and they promised to create a platform where the contestant can answer questions on issues surrounding the withdrawal. Oluwajuedalo's movement also accused the management and pro-management groups of orchestrating their downfall. "The agenda we were bringing was one that would take the proverbial food from the table of political pensioners, and professional student leaders. NAPSS OAU Holds Freshers' Party

Olabode Oluwafemi Department of Political Science, Obafemi Awolowo University, held its welcome party  for Fresh students after series of constraints that emanated from the pandemic which kept academics and other activities on hold across the globe. The event which was on Monday, 23rd August 2021, held at Pit Theatre featuring some OAU campus celebrities - AY Santos, Mar Kay. Also, it featured pageantry show for Mr and Miss Pol with 4 contestants - 2 males and 2 females. The contestants were given opportunity to showcase their talents on the stage performance. Fasasi Yusuf Breyno and Adebanjo Tioluwanimi emerged as winners of Mr & Miss Political Science for 2019/2020 academics session. In an interview segment with the two winners they expressed their pleasure. Great Ife Election: OAU Electoral Commission Assures Free, Fair, and Credible Election

  Olabode Oluwafemi The body of OAU students' union electoral commission chaired by Ajayi Oluwafemi, popularly known as FM Castro, held a conference with OAU press men (ACJ OAU) on Saturday morning as regards the fast approaching students' union election.  The election, which is getting competitive with high number of turn up of aspirants, will hold as already stipulated on the unveiled electoral calendar: HEC election - Saturday, August 28th. CEC election - Wednesday, September 1st. SRC election- Thursday, September 2nd. SRC leadership election - Thursday September 9th. Each faculty allocated with SRC seats:  Arts 13, Education 13, Social Sciences 13, Law 12, EDM 13, Pharmacy 13, Sciences 13, Agriculture 13, Dentistry 5, and others, all summed up to 150 seats. OAU Electoral Chairman Moves Against Congress, Makes Decision Without Congressional Input

OAU Kilonshele Efem Castro, Electoral Chairman The  Electoral Chairman of Obafemi Awolowo University Students' Union, Efem Castro, violated congressional rules in Wednesday's congress when he moved against the congress and made a decision without any congressional input.  The main purpose of Wednesday's congress was to lift the electoral ban - however, during the congress, issues on restrictions that will be placed on contestants were raised. In recent elections, there had been a minimum requirement of 2.5 CGPA to contest for any position in the Students' union. This restriction is not constitutional and this platform learnt that the requirement is also not traditional. According to the electoral chairman, this requirement was brought up by the school management for a political purpose.  The first five submissions given regarding this issue all called for the requirement to be eradicated. ACJ OAU Inducts New Members In A Knowledge-filled Event

Olabode Oluwafemi Association of campus Journalists, Obafemi Awolowo University,  inducted its new members on Saturday in a ceremony that was pervaded with knowledge.   The event which commenced by 10:30am was attended by stakeholders, members and the inductees. The event took place in the Faculty of Administration's post-graduate lecture room.   The inductee were put through the fundamentals and ethics of Journalism by experienced speakers. Adejumo Kabir- a renowned multiple award winning journalist, Ismail Taiwo - media practitioner, publisher of Oduduwa News, and Wasiu Ajadosu- Chairman NUJ Osun State chapter represented by the chapter's secretary - Nikola Elufadejin, all brimmed the new members.   Adejumo Kabir- an alumnus of the association and OAU shared with inductees his experiences and challenges as student journalist.
