OAU Vice-Chancellor Expresses Gratitude and Seeks Support During Central Mosque Visit

During the visit to the Central Mosque of Unity on Friday, the Vice Chancellor of Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU), Professor Simeone Bamire, extended his heartfelt appreciation to the Almighty God, the leader of the OAU Muslim community, and the Obafemi Awolowo University Graduates' Association (UNIFEMGA) for their unwavering support and active engagement on campus.


Addressing the congregation during the Friday prayer service, Professor Bamire expressed his gratitude for the collaborative efforts that have contributed to the progress and vibrancy of the university community. He commended the OAU Muslim community for their dedication and leadership, acknowledging the pivotal role they play in fostering a harmonious and inclusive environment.


The Vice-Chancellor took the opportunity to shed light on some pressing challenges facing the university. Professor Bamire highlighted the existence of several leakages within the institution and emphasized the critical issue of inadequate funding. He revealed that the university currently bears a financial burden exceeding 600 million Naira.


In the face of these challenges, Professor Bamire expressed deep appreciation for the proactive support received from the Alumni of Obafemi Awolowo University. He commended the alumni for their financial contributions, emphasizing that their generosity has been instrumental in alleviating the financial strain faced by the university.


Furthermore, the Vice Chancellor urged individuals and associations to join hands in supporting the university financially. Professor Bamire stressed that funding remains a paramount issue affecting the university's operations and its ability to provide quality education and maintain essential infrastructure.


As the university continues its mission to excel in academic pursuits, Professor Simeone Bamire's call for collective support underscores the importance of a united effort in addressing financial challenges and ensuring the sustained growth and development of Obafemi Awolowo University.
