NiMechE Students Association Elects Desire-Desire As President

The Electoral Committee of the Nigerian Institution of Mechanical Engineers Students Association has declared Ademiluyi Desire the winner of the election that was held in the department on Friday, 16th December. 


Ademiluyi Daniel Desire (Desire-Desire) emerged as the winner over Aiyepegba Ebunoluwa Oluwadamilola ( TOPAZ) with 51 votes and last, Osho Fayokunmi Joshua ( Hon Fayorr) scored 30 votes.


The election, which spanned across various levels of the department from Part 2 to 5, saw Students of the department troop out in numbers to cast their votes for their preferred candidates that would represent them at various offices.


After a rigorous process, the election began fully as the electorates lined up in files to cast their votes for their preferred choice. From part 2, there were, 56 voters, and in part 3, a total number of 62 electorates voted, and in part 4, 74 voters cast their votes, while 53 electorates also cast votes respectively.


Another category of the Election is the SRC Election, where students vote for representatives from their Parts. For part 5 SRC office, the total number of votes cast was 63 with Olatunji Ebenezer scooping 43 votes and emerging as a winner ahead of Ademiju Ayomide with 38 votes, Bankole Korede with 15 votes, and lastly Agbalajobi Moyinoluwa with 6 votes.


For the past 4 SRC categories; the total number of votes cast was 73, as Ogunsanmi Olamide and Tope-Adekunle Atidadeoluwa both broke ties having 51 votes respectively ahead of Suoware Nanaweitonbra Henry with 37 votes.


In the Director of Social (DOS) category; Salaudeen Abdullah Opeyemi (Qari) emerged as the winner with 215 votes (> 70%) and for the Director of Sport; Okedeji John Oluwafemi also emerged winner with 218 (>70%). Also, Assistant Librarian (AL) Oluyemi Tosin Philip carted 214 votes (>70%) which makes him emerge the winner in that category as well. For Treasurer, Onyenkeyadi Chinemerem Linus (FrancisDeGreat) won by 215 votes (>70%).


For the office of the Public Relations Officers (PRO), Amao Fareed Ayomide emerged with 223 votes (>70%) and Al-Yaqeen Muhammad Adisa (M-Stack) emerged winner of the Financial Secretary category with 216 votes (>70%). In the General Secretary category, Ajayi Olubukola David won with slim merging ( 135 votes) over his competitor, Adeleke Daniel Ayomide with 101 votes. For the Vice President category; Ogunmolu Kayode George scooped 218 (>70%) to emerge victorious. 


The President-Elect, Ademiluyi Desire, after the election result was announced, joyfully expressed his delight and thanked the electorates for coming all out to see him emerge as the winner. The newly elected President also solicits the help of his competitors seeking their help in uplifting the association’s agenda unanimously putting behind individual interests. He maintained that his administration was ready to run an all-inclusive government without any form of bias or prejudice whatsoever.
