Opinion: The Unprofessionalism Of The Agency

Following the early hour break-in of the supposedly Law enforcement agency; the Economic and Financial Crime Commission (EFCC) that led to the arrest of the students of Obafemi Awolowo University who were allegedly recognized as internet fraudsters with no evidence to warrant their arrest, which led to a great brouhaha amongst the concerned students of the Obafemi Awolowo University which in turn led to both online and on-site protests.

Several infringements of the students' human rights were expressed beginning from their right to privacy and the height of all, which is the defamation of their identities. These actions of the EFCC again clearly shows what struggling young adult in Nigeria faces day in and day out while struggling for a means of survival. The arrested students were lucky enough to have a vibrant Student Union whose action and inaction could effect ignoble change toward the unprofessional action of the EFCC that led to the release of some students within 24 hours of arrest.

The muteness of the school authority could be interpreted in many stances and this, again proves to the Great IFE Student of Obafemi Awolowo University that we strive under management that isn't concerned about any other sphere of our life other than having good grades and graduate. The coldness of the school management has only proven to us that the brutality nature of the Nigerian Law Enforcement Agency is a complementing idea to them.

Governor Adeleke just proved to us again today that in this world where elders make decisions inconsiderate of the younger generation, there are a few of them whose welfare matters in truth and justice.

We agree that we live in a world where elders' apology to the younger generation is a taboo. However, the public defamation of the identity of the students MUST be rectified as we all know that this society strives for a track record.

It is so disheartening to conclude that the Nigeria Law Enforcement Agency still operates unprofessionally after our end-SARs ordeal but you can discard this by making sure that fingers are pointed professionally and specifically not generally and assumptively.
