Great IFE Students’ Union Holds Sports’ Fiesta for Freshmen

The Office of the Sports Director of the Great IFE Students’ in the display of athletic prowess is currently hosting the Sports Fiesta which is part of the scheduled programs to welcome Freshmen of the Obafemi Awolowo University to Campus. 

Earlier on Tuesday, November 14th, during the Opening Ceremony of, the Sports Fiesta, which was held at the Main bowl of the University’s Sports Complex, the Faculty of  Science freshmen team won the opening match against Freshmen from the Faculty of Social with 4 goals to 1. Meanwhile, the program continued with football matches and scrabble games on Wednesday, November 15. The Scrabble games which had in attendance, representatives from each faculty, was held in both male and female category.

Other featured games were the video games, PES FIFA and Mortal Combat, and chess, among other recreational activities. Spectators were seen cheering on the participants for their talents. 


In an interview with OAUKilonshele, the Director of Sport of the Students Union, Sumbade Saudiq Babatunde, lamented the unavailability of funds. He noted that the Sports Fiesta is Progressing despite financial constraints, giving appreciation to some institutions that have been funding the Program. When asked about the performance of the students in the competition so far, he praised the freshmen for their performance in every game present in the Fiesta. 



He said, “Their performance is beyond my expectation, they are doing well”. He stated further one of the aims of organizing the sports fiesta is to select students who will be part of the University’s team. He appreciated the spectators for being at the sporting activities venues in massive numbers to support their faculties and his team members for their support. Sumbade also lamented the insult and late registration from the directors of sports of some faculties.


Speaking with OAU Kilonshele, Ajilore David AYOMIDE,  a freshman from the Faculty of Education noted that the Sports Fiesta is an event that promotes sportsmanship, excitement, and healthy competition among the freshmen. "Field events like football, I can't wait for track events to start". He stated further that in the fear of missing classes, some students couldn't meet up with the Sport Fiesta.

OAU RELEASES FINAL LIST FOR 2017/2018 ADMISSIONS.

Friday, 12th January, 2018. By Olufemi Alfred .O.     In lieu of a recent publication by OAU KILONSHELE about the release of admissions list despite the strike, it has been gathered that Obafemi Awolowo University has submitted the final lists of admitted candidates to the Joint Admissions Matriculation Board (JAMB) on the 10th of January.     However, JAMB has began the uploading of the names on the Caps  section of the website as about 20 students have been confirmed by OAU KILONSHELE  to have been admitted      All candidates (Direct Entry and JAMB applicants)  , awaiting their names should log on to the JAMB website and check if they have been admitted.

OAU ADMISSIONS MERIT LIST UPLOADED ON JAMB WEBSITE.

      Few days ago, OAU KILONSHELE posted the release of Obafemi Awolowo University merit list for 2017/2018 admissions, it has been confirmed that some of the aspirants have seen their names on  JAMB's website.       Admission status can be viewed on the CAPS section of the website.           Below are the step by step procedures to access JAMB CAPS 1. Visit jamb.org.ng/efacility  preferably using a PC or chrome browser on mobile. 2. Login with the credentials( email and password) you created your jamb account with. 3. After successfully logging in, click on the options button ( the button with 3 dash) at the top of the page. 4. You'll see CAPS under the tag 'Admissions'. Click on it and you'll be taken to the CAPS page. 5. If the page only shows 'welcome', do not be discouraged. Just click on options on your mobile's browser and change the view of the page to 'desktop view'. This is why it's preferable to use a PC. 6.
