The Great IFE Students Representatives Council, Friday, November 25, held its first sitting since the resumption of the students to campus and perhaps the inauguration of the members of the Students' Representatives Council at the Awo Cafe of the Obafemi Awolowo Hall of Residence.

During the sitting, a petition written by a former honorable member of the SRC from the faculty of Technology, Fawole Iyanuoluwa was read and passed on to the house but was countered and therefore scrapped. The petition had in statement that the Union Election should be held in the coming session, which initially was scheduled to be held at the end of the second semester of a session. The petition was made to allow IT Students and incoming Freshers of the next session to participate in the election.

Also, the Executives were called to the podium of the sitting to give reports on how the Fresher's week was done.

The Budget and Finance Committee, through the Chairman, Hon Tunde-Adedipe Tosin, noted that the budget of the Students' Union has been submitted to the Leadership of the house and also, a soft copy of the Budget was passed to the SRC members.

Stating the account of the Students' Union, the financial secretary of the Students' Union, Fashina Damilare explained that only ₦5,751.29k was met on the account, and the account balance rises to ₦191,079.29 following money generated from SUB Ventures by the present administration, meanwhile after the deduction of bank charges, there is presently a total amount of ₦119,071.29.

He noted that the Students' Union is still expecting a disbursement of a sum of money, which will make the amount of money in the Account of the Students' Union rise to or above an amount of ₦20 million.

While reviewing the budget of the President of the Students' Union, Abass Ojo, the Budget and Finance Committee noted that there was a budget stated for printing and printing separately. The chairman said there should only be one budget, which is either for a printer while the other for printing should be scrapped or vice versa.

The clerk of the house noted that no new printer was found in his office and the printer that was found in his office was an old one, which is spoilt. He affirmed to the SRC members that the printer was tested by him, but it was faulty.

The SRC therefore approved the budget of the Students' Union to get a printer worth ₦65,000 for the Students' Union.

In another report by ACJOAU, part of the budget of the office of the President which was reportedly approved is the Zebra Crossing and Speed Bump project. A total of ₦197,000 was eventually approved for this project with materials such as paint, rollers, tapes, and workmanship.

The SRC also approved for Fundraising, Intervention, and Familiarization. The total amount that was budgeted for short trips was ₦375,000; ₦25,000 for 15 trips. For the long trip, ₦500,000 was budgeted; ₦50,000 for 10 trips. The total for these trips is ₦875,000. Eventually, a total sum of ₦1,541,000 was approved for the office of the President.
