OAU Management Publicly Reacts to Intended Cult Attack

The management of Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-ife, Osun State, has publicly reacted to the intended cult attack by reassuring students of their safety and security on campus as they go about their daily academic routine.

Recall that on the 5th of May, during the musical concert which witnessed the performance of a popular hip-hop artist named Zlatan Ibile on campus, a group of cultists which was said to belong to the "Alora confraternity" invaded the campus. The attack was later halted after the security men seized some of the attackers.

There was an open letter afterwards titled "To the prawns and suirrels of Obafemi Awolowo University" which had now gone viral, and was purportedly written under the pseudonym "Oju."

Part of the letter goes thus: "The yellow viper will crawl over Obafemi Awolowo University.
Blood will flow. We will go from every hostel to every hostel. We will wash your school with the sins of your people."

However, the school management in a release that was signed by Abiodun Olanrewaju, the University PRO, has assured the members of the academic community of proper security and also revealed that the situation is under  control.

"It is not ideal for the University to respond to such an open letter, detailing what the management is doing to nip the said attack in the bud, considering the implication of such action security wise; but we consider it expedient to inform the stakeholders in the education sector, particularly our students, their parents and, or guardians, alumni and those who place high premium on lives and sanctity of human existence that the university management is on top of the situation, having informed the agencies of government saddled with the responsibility of securing lives and property, in addition to the internal security mechanism that have been put in place."

The management went ahead to encourage student to go about their regular activities without fear and report any strange activities to the appropriate authorities.

"We hereby assure all parents and, or guardians that the security of their children and wards is guaranteed and that the students are advised to go about their normal academic activities without any apprehension, but should be security conscious and quickly report any strange movement to the appropriate organ of the university." The statement goes.
