LIVBAR: How Liverpool 'Never Gave Up' Against Barcelona

Adekanmbi Ademola

"Never Give up" was inscribed boldly on mohammed Salah's T-shirt but little did the football world know what was in store ahead of the return leg.

Liverpool had squandered an away advantage to Barcelona just last week where they lost by three goals to Lionel Messi and his agents of massive destruction. Lionel Messi's Sublime free-kick and Luiz Suarez(an ex-Liverpool player) celebration against Liverpool were the talking points of the game.
These scripts can never be written neither can anyone explain in full how Karma hunts the hunter and makes him the hunted.

Football Pundits and Analysts had tipped Barcelona to go through to the Finals and the odds were in their favour. Statistically,Barcelona were in the Finals already. Only 90 minutes of Certainty stood between Barcelona and the finals in Madrid.

The game started at 8pm and just seven minutes into the game,Divork Origi put Liverpool ahead. Barcelona had their chances but were calm since they still had two goals advantage. The first half ended at 1-nil. Just fourty five minutes of composure and we are through were the words of Barcelona fans. Liverpool will need a fourty five minutes of absolute madness to go through.

The madness began in the 54th minute when Wijnaldum found the net after a low cross from Arnold found him. Tensions began to rise in the Barcelona Camp. Two minutes later,It was that man again,Wijnaldum with a graceful header to level things on aggregate 3-3. Jurgen Klopp was running riot on the touch line,The substitute bench was dazed with absolute madness, the fans were in ecstacy and could dream once again while the Barcelona camp was silent and worried.

Always be at alert is the saying of the military personnels but could have avoided disaster if Barcelona had listened to the saying before the match. They were caught napping when Arnold played a low cross from the corner flag into the box and found Origi who like in the first half, slotted home the second. Liverpool were four goals up against the giants of spain. Liverpool itself couldn't contain the excitement. Liverpool had risen from their sleep to shock Barcelona and its fans worldwide.

Liverpool progressed to the finals with a 4-nil victory. An interesting end to the quest for the final spot. All eyes will be on Tottenham hotspur to try their own magic as they play Ajax away from home tomorrow.
