#LIFESTYLE : Love at first sight; A myth or reality?

When Seun met Angela for the first time, It was as if he hadn't seen any girl as charming. It was as if everything around paused for a while, then continued in a slow motioned way. According to him, It was like a dream come true, as everything he ever wanted or fantasised about were all there, staring at him, one hundred percent.
It was at the convocation after-party and Seun was with his friends having some bottles of 'something light'.

"After the DJ played the third track on his playlist, I felt bored and stressed out because of the earlier hustle and bustle of the convocation."
"I can never forget the day and how it exactly happend. I left the dance floor to get a glass of juice then I met this angel from another planet. My mouth was agape for as long as I can remember as I couldn't come up with any of my "Mr. Cool formal introductions. "

"I melted when she turned around and greeted everyone on the bar stand, Feeling like she was specially taking an opportunity to engage me in a conversation... The rest, today, is history "
That was the brief summary of Mr. Seun who claims that he felt a connection with his heartthrob, Angela even before getting to know her for who she really is.
And even though Seun and Angela are married now, many still maintain that they developed a connection after knowing each other over time, not at the first sight.

Like Seun, many young adults of this generation  have over time developed an habit of starting a relationship based on the 'Love at first sight principle'. Scientific research has shown that it takes a minimum of two weeks to be very sure that you've developed feelings for someone of the opposite sex and going by this stats, it can be safe to infer that the earlier stated principle doesn't have a scientific proof.

On the other hand, some people believe that those who claim to fall in love at the first sight are only lusting after the body of the perceived love interest. These category of people are of the opinion that love at first sight only applies to situations in the movies and can not find its way into the real world. Some psychologists have proven that an individual takes a certain period of time to develop an attraction, based on a number of factors; like joint hobbies, physical intimacy and the likes before a strong sense of commitment can be put in place.

Whether the principle is a myth or a reality depends on a lot of factors that can't be discussed here. That will take a whole publication, or a journal to print. The fact however remains that it can be real, and can also remain a myth, it depends on your values, your Ideal partner and FATE!
