Google Digital Skills representatives stated that skill acquisition is a crucial requirement in job employment in the world today unlike sometimes in the past.

According to Vincent Anani, one of the representatives, while addressing  students of Obafemi Awolowo University on Tuesday, noted that acquiring special skills and work experiences along one's academic pursue is a wise thing to do as students.

" In fact, it is the only way to withstand the  rapid social change in the  global world."

Mr Vincent added that 'acquiring skills as students on campus, start from getting to work as an intern members in any organisation of choice. And digital skill is a prominent skill that every existing individuals who need to be relevant in the society today need to acquire.

"'To survive in life, one needs to  take advantage of  digital opportunity. This is because, the digital space covers almost all parts of human endeavors. If properly utilised, it leverages businesses, improve internet learning, keeps you relevance for all time, and it equips people with skills that are outside the classroom setting." he said.

In prioritising the importance of digital skill, Mr Vincent referred to skills as '...the job of the future which blend the lacuna the academic certificate can not provide'.

Another speaker, Mr Biola  Mohammed who spoke on search Engine Organization (SEO) and Search Engine Marketing (SEM), specified the various opportunities that using  digital skill to search information through the Google search platforms on smart phones and on the computer systems offer.

"Google as designed, gives the opportunity to get information for your businesses as well as advertise your businesses with just searching the content that fit your result. All these give one equal opportunity across the world."

He added that google showcases different opportunities for students, and people across the world, such as assisting in making their dream job come through, ensuring a boom in their businesses and personal careers.

To assert the versatility of google platform opportunity, he also included  that Google is offering free data and browsing platforms across the world. And Nigeria is part of this great opportunity.

"As at the moment, people can browse freely in Unilag and four other places in Lagos. 'And this is increasing." he said.
