OAU SU PRESIDENT IMPEACHED, SPEAKER OF THE PARLIAMENT TO ACT IN CAPACITY.

Obafemi Awolowo University Students' Representatives council, the legislative arm of the Students' Union, has voted the President of the Students' Union, Oyekan Edward Ibukun, out of office on the 4th of November.
The verdict was given at a parliamentary sitting presided by Rt. Hon. Falae Temitope, the speaker of the house. The motion of impeachment, which was moved by Comrade Joe, had Thirty Seven honourables' support against none.

"I implored the general public to see Mr. Edward Ibukun as a mere joker who likes to joke with the truth. I know Dr. IBK, as he his popular called, would gather his boys to resist the truth but the fact remain that he has been constitutionally impeached." the clerk cited.

Oyekan was suspended in lieu of an attack against students of the varsity on the first day of November. A set of hoodlums stormed the Students' Union building with cutlasses, whips and charms, and it resulted to the beating and inflicting of injuries on some of the Students.

An eye witness account stated that when those hoodlums were later revolted against and pursued, they escaped in the Students' Union bus.
"When we pursued those armed guys, they left in the Students' Union bus and while on our way we met the President and one of the honourable from pharmacy. Truth be told, the students mobbed and beat him because it was obvious that he was not unconnected to the attack by the unidentified hoodlums who left in the union bus. He pretended to have fainted later on." Bin Zak, a student, explained.

A member of the parliament, representing the faculty of law, emphasized that the President faked the fainting.

"While he was lying on the floor that night, we proferred that he should be taken to the hospital but he refused. Afterwards, the security unit of the university came around and he ran in to the vehicle." said the honourable who sought anonymity for the fear of being suspended.

The President, who told students that he could not do anything about the attack, was taken away from students from the scene in the university security vehicle.

The Chief Security of the institution, Mr. Babatunde Oyatokun, in a verifiable release, claimed that it was not a cultists' attack as purported by students but a clash between the President and members of the Left organization, a socialist ideological group .
'It's a fight between SU president and the leftists' Oyatokun claimed.

Also, the President in a phone conversation, made it known that he is being attended to at OAU Teaching hospital. He therefore denied that he sponsored the attack. "How can someone, who was attacked, attack another person?  He asked rhetorically to back up his denial.

It can be recalled that the Oyekan Ibukun led administration purchased the 2.5M controversial bus few months ago.

However, since the president has been impeached, the Vice president, Jacob Grace, that ought to act in that capacity has been suspended for participating in a protest staged against the power outage in the school early last month. Hence, constitutionally, the speaker of the parliament steps in to act as the president.
