16-YEAR-OLD FOLASHEWA MADE OAU PROUD IN PLATINUM REASONING CONTEST.




      The 16-year-old Abdulsalam Folashewa, a student of Obafemi Awolowo University, bagged the 3rd position Out of about 380 registered candidates in the just concluded National  Platinum Reasoning Contest organized for all students in tertiary institutions in Nigeria. This initiative was officially sponsored by Pastor E.A Adeboye of the Redeemed Christian Church of God and His Excellency Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, former Nigerian Vice-president.


    The grand finale ceremony of the contest took place on Saturday, 18th November 2017 at Transcorp Hilton, Abuja, where a 200 level Computer science student, Bankole Oluwafemi of Redeemer's University,  was announced the overall winner  while a student of American University of Nigeria, Salisu Ahmad , was awarded the 1st runner up and the 2nd runner up was awarded to a student of Obafemi Awolowo University, Abdulsalam Folasewa M.

   The overall winner was given a cheque of N500,000, the 1st runner up was awarded a cheque of N300,000 and a cheque of N200,000 was given to the 2nd runner up. The 4th to 100th positions were promised consolation prizes.


    Each winners gave a testimony of how they came to know about the programme and what they went through during the contest at the  event, which had in attendance the winners, parents, the invited guests, the Platinum Mathematics Team members and the general audience.

    Miss Folashewa expressed her indescribable joy for making it to the grand finale of the contest.

  "It all started when I saw the advert. I told one of my roomates who was skeptical about it considering the prizes attached. I applied and I started preparations. Downloaded General Mathematics questions for practice. To my utmost surprise, I was selected and was excited when I saw the message inviting me for the grand finale ceremony in Abuja."  The young champ said.

       In an interview with one of the members of the Platinum Reasoning Contest team, Abdulkadri Agboola, he expressed his excitement.

        "I'm very happy that Platinum team has committed their strength in appreciating intelligence once in the country financially by applying their deft hands into gigantic innovation ,  I'm also happy that the few students that believes in the program have made their family, friends and school proud. It's a privilege that PMT is rewarding 1st -100th students across the federation."
