DISEASES CAUSED BY BAD WATER THAT YOU DON'T KNOW

Since it’s obvious that we don’t need a pastor to prophesize to us to eat when hungry, so also, we should know that impure waters definitely will have adverse effect when taken.

It’s unfortunate that people in our country, especially on Obafemi Awolowo University Campus, are now growing anti-bodies to this gutter-like chocolate substance, which we take as water. Even though statistics reveals that 80% of human diseases came from water, our authorities still feels that it’s the best for us; that might be a suicidal mission.

This article anyway, will provide less-common injuries this impure waters cause to our body, their symptoms, and possible recommendations for preventing it.

Of all least mentioned is Ulcers. The most
difficult to combat, once it happens. It’s characterised with excessive abdominal pain at the lower region of our stomach, frequent bloating and gas, and frequent heartburn and nausea. It engulfs with any kind of irritation to the lining of the stomach or intestines. Also chemical pollutants in water, which can damage the lining of the stomach severely, and bacteria that may find their way into the waters, can actually become causal agents. With massive ignorance, we all, especially student, tend to aggravate its risk level, with our constant intake of spicy foods, alcohol and smoking; plus being high-stressed most times. All this combined with polluted water prepare our journey to the second world. Simple preventions are abstinence from contaminated waters or anything that may irritate the stomach, or introduce bacteria. Reduce level of alcohol intake and eat mild food.

Also, Liver Damage is also a packaged gift from impure water. Its symptoms varies from fatigue to weakness, vomiting, weight loss or yellow skin or eyes. Its causal effect are bacteria in water supplies, fecal matters in water supplies and chemicals in water supplies. We actually also increased its risks when we have a weak immune system and constant usage of drugs, tobacco, and alcohol. Prevention are through the use of clean, treated or boiled water, and eating of foods prepared under good conditions.

Impure waters can also cause Hepatitis through the introduction of fecal matters into the body, and the virus spreads the fecal matters to the human liver; which in turn leads to signs like fatigue, fever, yellow skin/eyes, nausea. The treatment is vaccination at a very young age, and do well to boil water before use.

Others are

Respiratory infections, Earaches, Fluorosis

In conclusion, though our leaders may exhibit carefree attitudes to our health, it’s best for us to uphold the principle of self help; because only healthy humans fight for their right.
