OAU SU LEADERS ALLEGEDLY LOOT UNION FUNDS, BANK ACCOUNT REMAINS #800, 000 NAIRA.
The recently suspended Students' Union Central Executive Council (CEC) of Obafemi Awolowo University led by Oyekan Edward, have been alleged to have withdrew about Three million naira of the 3.85 million naira backlog released few months ago.
According to a member of the Central Executive Council, who sought anonymity for security reasons, the bank account was froze on Monday, 6th of November, by the Division of Students Affairs of the university headed by the Dean, Prof. Isiaka Aransi.
It was gathered that the monies in the account are being withdrawn bit by bit, even before the suspension of the Union activities was pronounced.
"They've been making withdrawals even before the suspension and this won't be without the knowledge of the President- Oyekan Edward, Secretary General - Boluwajaiye Adeoluwa, Financial Secretary- Omisakin Kehinde and the Director of Socials- Adedayo Emmanuel . "
" They are capable of making any withdrawal, I don't trust the Union officers we have." Adewumi Michael, SU sports' director, made known.
Moreover, in the early hours of Tuesday, some of the Union leaders were spotted in the bank but their aim of visiting the financial institution was not known.
In respect to the allegations made, two of the signatories to the Union bank account, denied the allegations but up till the time of the compilation of this report, they've not been able to provide bank statements of account to that effect.
"Disregard the allegation, it is a propaganda" Oyekan, the impeached President affirmed.
There is nothing of such.
Who has the time to go bank for bank statement?
They've suspended union activities and the next thing is to go and withdraw? Is it anyone's father's money?" Boluwajaiye, the Secretary General, asked rhetorically.
