OAU TECH WEEK: Office of the SU President sets for Tech Week, to empower 1000 students

Office of the President, Great Ife Students' Union, Olayiwola Folahan-led administration is set for tech week targeted at empowering one thousand (1000) OAU students with tech skills.


The empowerment skills programme in conjunction with Charms Plc and New Horizons Plc will involve completely free (N150,000 expenses covered) two-week Intensive certified training of students on robotics and drone technology from July 10 to July 22 and laptop empowerment scheme with zero-interest installment payment.


While speaking with OAU KILONSHELE, the Great Ife Students' Union President Olayiwola Folahan, on the motive behind the tech training skill acquisition programme, he said it is to enlighten and empower the students about the enormous opportunities available in the industry.

"My motive is to enlighten and empower Great Ife students about the enormous opportunities available in the tech industry." He said.


Folahan, the OAU Great Ife Students' Union President further stated his vision behind the program saying it is to promote technological awareness, encourage skill development, inspire and educate the students.

"My vision for tech week is to promote Technological Awareness, Encouraging Skill Development, Fostering Innovations, and Entrepreneurship, Networking, and Collaboration, and create a vibrant tech community.

Overall, organizing a Tech Week for Great Ife students can serve as a platform to inspire, educate and empower students in the field of technology. It can create a dynamic environment that fosters learning, innovation, and collaboration while prepping students for the future of work in an increasingly tech-driven world" The student union President added.

The programme, a maiden edition is said to commence with a grand opening session slated for June 26th to June 28th in the university community.
