NAPSS OAU holds annual conference, enjoins students to be resourceful

The National Association of Political Science Students, Obafemi Awolowo University has held its annual conference (NOAC '23) themed "Future of Work".

The conference which was aimed at providing an avenue for insightful discussions and ideas exchange around the future of work across various sectors and industries. 


The President of the Association, Azeezat Adekanye in her welcome address highlighted the association's journey achievement attained under her administration while also recognizing other executive team members. 

"NOAC is not merely an event; it is a celebration of intellectual curiosity, innovation, and the power of collective wisdom especially as we have redefined our focus for this year’s conference" She added. 


The conference keynote speaker Oluneye Oluwole(Founder, Story Chest Group Inc., Canada) lauded the executive team for pulling such an event. 

Oluneye further charged the students to embrace opportunities as they should also open their minds to new opportunities.

"The future of work is here and it is essential to learn, relearn and embrace the opportunities here.

 Automation has brought about a decline in routine jobs. However, automation creates new opportunities for human operating skills for individuals to focus more on high-value work." She stressed.

An associate professor at York University, Damilola Adebayo in his virtual speech at the event advocated the relevancy and effectiveness of academic work despite the evolving technology garnished with artificial intelligence.

"The world of artificial intelligence will threaten certain jobs, but no matter how technology advances, academic work will still be relevant." He also enjoined the students to inculcate good communicative skills being core criteria in the academic field.


The event ended with a panel session  featuring - Mr. Daniel Afolabi(Product Designer) Fisayo Oyeyemi (Director and Chief Caterer Kitchen Royale) and Ibukun Akinkuotu( Brand Influencer, Growth and Marketing Manager Service and Me Inc) and moderated by Ololade Adeshina, a final year student of the Department.
