Normalcy has been restored shortly after a "peaceful protest" was demonstrated by Technology and Engineering Faculty students of the alleged beaten-to-death student for theft in the early hours of Wednesday.

The institution management was represented by the Dean of Students' Affairs, Prof Isiaka Aransi and Chief Security Officer of the institution who made an address to the students at the protest scene calling for serenity and order as perpetrators will be justly treated.

Protesting Students in their response equally made their demands known such as;

i. A representative must emerge from the deceased Faculty in the investigative panel.

ii. Prohibition of the parade of offenders and subjection to torture famously called 'SMS' - Scientific Maximum Shishi.

iii. Shut down of the Students' Union building and suspension of union leaders' activities till the outcome of the investigation.

The management's representatives at SU bus stop- the protest scene, consented to the demands of the protesters stressing perpetrators involved will be subjected to the dictates of law and justice.

The deceased, Okolie Ahize was a final-year student of the Department of Civil Engineering. He was allegedly tortured after being caught theft of phone and subsequently confirmed dead at the University Teaching Hospital.
