OAU Kilonshele Appoints Tolulope as the Editor-in-Chief, Oluwatamilore as Deputy

The former Editor in chief of OAU Kilonshele, Oluwafemi Olabode have officially appointed Adeniran Tolulope as the new editor-in-chief of the OAU Kilonshele News Agency. This was disclosed during a meeting held by the news agency on Tuesday, December 5th.

 Olabode Oluwafemi, while speaking, started by asking every member to briefly do a formal introduction before going to the main content of the program. The former EIC warmly welcomed all members and thanked them for honoring the call.

The former EIC further itemized on the reason why the meeting was being held—the reason, basically according to him, was to see to the progress of the agency and, secondly, to educate every member on how they can maximally use their respective niches to write creatively. He regurgitated when he took the mandate of the agency when virtually everyone had left and he was the only person working assiduously to uplift the agency. He therefore admonishes all intending and full members to work together as a team, see the association as their property, and treat it as such.


The former EIC, Oluwafemi, having stated some ethical standards expected from every member, then announced that henceforth he would no longer serve as the EIC of the agency and thus announced Tolulope Adeniran as the new EIC as he has taken on a new role and task in the Association of Campus Journalists (ACJOAU) as the new PRO of the association.

He noted that the benefit of being an active member of this agency is that it helps build your CV. He congratulated the new members of ACJOAU on their incoming induction on Saturday and congratulated the present Editor-in-Chief, Tolulope Adeniran, as his successor. He further acknowledged the presence of the social media manager, Adebayo Ifeoluwa. In conclusion, appreciated and acknowledged the assistant Editor-in-chief, Aboluwarin Oluwatamilore


Oluwafemi appreciated those who have been working tirelessly for the progress of the news agency and encouraged those who have been inactive and erratic to emulate the good works of those who have put all their best into practice. The former EIC called on one of the former board members, Badmus Damola, to give a brief exhortation to encourage new members who recently joined.


In his address, the former Managing Editor of the News Agency, Badmus Damola, encourages every new member to stay committed and dedicated to building the agency. He recounted when both he and the former EIC met and corroborated his points by saying he met Mr. Oluwafemi while he was still a greenhorn in journalism. “Oluwafemi encouraged my journalistic journey and prompted me to do more in terms of creative writing."

The former Managing Editor, Badmus Damola, then uses the opportunity to wish the new EIC a smooth-sailing journalistic experience and pray that his period as the EIC sees the agency bourgeon. He, however, in a close remark, once again bid members to emulate the former EIC and work in unison towards uplifting the agency. He referred to the Student Union election and the ACJ Awards last session and spoke about unity to grow greater and bigger with our ideas and to emphasize greater job opportunities as he calls on the present. He additionally stated that there are lots of fringe benefits awaiting every prospective member of the agency, as the agency will serve as a platform where lots of benefits will be achieved, like jobs, recommendations, and an avenue to get their journalistic expertise to the world.


Consequently, the Editor-in-Chief, Adeniran Tolulope, presented an award of excellence to all the former board members for their contributions and efforts in giving the agency an uplift. An Award of Excellence and Commitment was presented to Badmus Damola for his unending commitment and efforts in writing creative stories thus far. The former EIC Oluwafemi has presented an award of excellence and exemplary character for serving the agency as the Editor-in-Chief of OAU Kilonshele News Agency for 2020/2021, which saw it regain its status. Lastly, in absentia, a certificate of recognition was presented to Adewojo Feranmi for overseeing the rebranding of the news agency over the years.


The Editor-in-Chief, Tolulope, conclusively encourages new members to imitate the awardees and bids them to be committed and work passionately to effectively substantiate the agency and work tenaciously to ensure the agency remains the number one news agency on the Obafemi Awolowo University campus.

He said, "I am ready to take up the task as the Editor in Chief of OAU Kilonshele, and I commend our efforts so far.". He further stated that the efforts of the reporters in the news agency are needed to lift the news agency and retain its reputation as the best news agency on the OAU campus.
