The blackout has left some of the halls with electricity blackout, hindering the pumping of water and subsequently restricting students from preparing for their tests.  Meanwhile, only Moremi Hall of Residence and Ladoke Akintola Hall of Residence have remained unaffected by the power outage, leaving students in other halls scrambling for alternatives. Abdulbasit Abdulkareem    The Vice-Chancellor of Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU), Professor Simeon Adebayo Bamire embarked on a visit to Awolowo Hall on Friday morning. The Vice-Chancellor, accompanied by his team, Hall management, and Awolowo Hall executives, meticulously inspected various blocks within the student residence.  During the visit, Professor Bamire expressed a keen interest in understanding the current state of the hall and engaged in conversations with both Hall management and student representatives. Notably, the Vice-Chancellor emphasized the importance of maintaining a clean and healthy hostel environment. Adeniran Tolulope   Toward the end of 2023, there was a trending report which stated that a Moremi Hall resident, was attacked at night by a male intruder. It was reported that the perpetrator was also a student, and that he was dressed in female attire.  It was even quoted by quite a significant number that he was sleeping by the side of the female student before he was caught, after which he struggled to keep the student silent. However, he couldn’t resist the defense which ensured the scenario didn't go uglier.  In just a week after the Moremi's incident, there was another male invasion which occurred at the Mozambique Hall of Residence. It was said that the victim of the incident, who held a lamp, made an attempt to shout to the public during the time it happened, late at night once again. Adeniran Stephen In the heart of every Great IFE students, an undertone whisper of concern is beginning to tremble through the Students' Union. The esteemed Great Ife Students' Representative Council (SRC), entrusted with the responsibility of parliamentary proceedings, seems to be caught in a web of inaction.  The Sacrosanct Constitution of the Great IFE Students’ Union , in Article II, Section 10, subsection 3 states that “ the speaker shall summon the meetings of the SRC ”. Adeniran Tolulope EFCC remands 13 OAU Students in Custody On Friday, The Economic Financial Crime Commission went to The Federal High court in Oshogbo to receive an order of remand for 13 students of Obafemi Awolowo University who were suspected to have involved in Fraudulent activities. The suspects who were arrested in the early hours of Wednesday 1st November, alongside 56 others have been in the custody of EFCC since then.  Confirming the number of students that are present in the EFCC custody, the President of the Great Ife Students' Union , Abass Ojo LoRdFeM, explained that the number of students who were remanded in EFCC custody is 13. Furthermore, he noted that 57 were earlier released by the agency, and 12 were remanded in custody. Campaign loudly went on for a week before the election week. Candidates fared during the debates, and perhaps the election, whilst a single candidate emerged for each post contested. Though, only a candidate contested for the position of the Director of sport, which he won fearlessly. Olabode Oluwafemi  The Great Ife Students' Union Electoral Commission Chairman, Ayebiele Oluwajuedalo has said he never saw the mistake engulfed in the electioneering process coming. The statement was made in an interview with ACJOAU shortly after the declared inconclusive and cancelation of Faculties of Administration and Social Sciences Students' Union SRC election which was brawled with outburst as earlier reported by OAU KILONSHELE . The Faculty of Administration and Social Sciences Great Ife Students' Representative Council election has geared inconclusive following pandemonium from both polling units. According to reports gathered by ACJOAU correspondents, the outburst came as a result of the non-appearance of some aspirants' data on the ballot papers. The Electoral Commission Chairman, Ayebiele Oluwajuedalo who later made himself available stated the issue was a result of technical glitches suggesting either the election gets postponed or names of the candidates get handwritten.  The Dean of Students' Affairs, Prof. Isiaka Aransi who was at the scene later pronounced cancelation of the voting exercise with the election rescheduled to hold at a yet-to-be-announced date.
