Ifeoluwa Lambe Writers, artists, scholars, performers, and literature enthusiasts gathered at Ace Hall, Obafemi Awolowo University, on Saturday, June 20, for the third edition of the Association of Nigerian Authors, OAU Sub-Chapter (ANA-OAU) Books and Arts Festival, where participants explored Africanfuturism, storytelling, literature, film, and the future of African creative expression. Experts Advocate Ethical Use of Religion for National Progress

Adebimpe Oluwatofunmi Experts, students, and public figures on Wednesday, June 10, gathered at the AUD II Lecture Theatre of Obafemi Awolowo University for a Religious Summit organised by the National Association for Students of Religious Studies (NASSORS), where speakers examined the role of religion in national development, politics, and social transformation. Bosun Tijani Commissions NITDA Innovation Hub at OAU

The Minister of Communications, Innovation and Digital Economy, Bosun Tijani, on Monday commissioned the Renewed Hope NITDA Innovation Hub at Obafemi Awolowo University, as part of efforts by the Federal Government and the National Information Technology Development Agency to strengthen digital innovation, research, and technology development among students, researchers, and innovators in Nigeria. The facility, unveiled in partnership with NITDA, comprises ultra-modern digital laboratories designed to provide students, lecturers, researchers, and innovators with access to advanced technological tools and practical learning opportunities. Sonny Echono, has announced an initial N2 billion funding commitment towards the proposed N10 billion President Bola Ahmed Tinubu Centre of Excellence in Intercultural Dialogue and Youth Empowerment at Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU), Ile-Ife. Echono made the announcement on Wednesday during the third day of activities marking OAU’s 65th anniversary celebration, held at Oduduwa Hall. The funding commitment, which received applause from participants, is expected to provide a foundation for the establishment of the Centre while reinforcing TETFund's partnership with the university in advancing research, innovation, and national development. OAU Retains Fifth Position in Nigeria CWUR 2026 Rankings

AbdulBasit Abdulkareem Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU), Ile-Ife, has retained its position as the fifth-best university in Nigeria in the 2026 edition of the Centre for World University Rankings (CWUR), while recording an improvement in its global standing. The latest CWUR rankings placed OAU 1,884th in the world with an overall score of 66.6, making it one of the top 8.9 per cent of universities globally. The university maintained its fifth-place position nationally behind the University of Ibadan (UI), University of Nigeria, Nsukka (UNN), University of Lagos (UNILAG), and Ahmadu Bello University (ABU). The University of Ibadan remained Nigeria’s highest-ranked university in 2026, placing first in the country and 1,042nd globally. This represents an improvement from its 2025 ranking of 1,062nd.
