Update- Great Ife Decides: I apologize, I never saw the mistake coming - Electoral Chairman

Olabode Oluwafemi  The Great Ife Students' Union Electoral Commission Chairman, Ayebiele Oluwajuedalo has said he never saw the mistake engulfed in the electioneering process coming. The statement was made in an interview with ACJOAU shortly after the declared inconclusive and cancelation of Faculties of Administration and Social Sciences Students' Union SRC election which was brawled with outburst as earlier reported by OAU KILONSHELE . Oluwajuedalo who stated he apologize to the "entirety of Great Ife Students" also made known the mistakes were a result of technical error and the screened-out of an aspirant on the ballot papers at Faculty of Education was on the ground of his impeachment from Great Ife Students' Union Judicial Council.  "The criteria to disqualify or qualify a candidate is a sole responsibility of the Electoral Commission." Great Ife Decides: Outburst as Faculties of Administration and Social Sciences SU SRC election geared inconclusive

The Faculty of Administration and Social Sciences Great Ife Students' Representative Council election has geared inconclusive following pandemonium from both polling units. According to reports gathered by ACJOAU correspondents, the outburst came as a result of the non-appearance of some aspirants' data on the ballot papers. The Electoral Commission Chairman, Ayebiele Oluwajuedalo who later made himself available stated the issue was a result of technical glitches suggesting either the election gets postponed or names of the candidates get handwritten.  The Dean of Students' Affairs, Prof. Isiaka Aransi who was at the scene later pronounced cancelation of the voting exercise with the election rescheduled to hold at a yet-to-be-announced date. Great Ife Decides: ACJOAU Withdraws from Electoral Debate

Following the upliftment of the ban on Great Ife Students' Union electoral process, the Association of Campus Journalists, Obafemi Awolowo University has issued a withdrawal release from the electoral debate.  The release signed by the President, Faith Alofe which stated came after a last-minute set down of terms, conditions and modalities by the electoral commission. The Association of Campus Journalists OAU regardless further assures prompt election updates as the union goes to poll. ACJOAU Releases Finalists for Adejumo Kabir Essay Contest

Ajibade Abdullah Adewale As the Association of Campus Journalists, Obafemi Awolowo University (ACJOAU) prepares for its annual International Campus Journalism Conference and celebration of its 50th anniversary, the association has released the top 8 finalists for the Adejumo Kabir Essay Contest.  The Essay contest is sponsored by Adejumo Kabir an alumnus of the Association who's an Assistant Investigations Editor, HumanAngle Media. The Top 8 finalists include Ajao Oluwatimileyin, Alimi Azeez, Aluko-Olokun Kikilobaoluwa, Babalola Segun from Medicine and Surgery, Ayobami Olaoluwa Andrew, Peace Ajayi from Law, Ogbonna Amarachi from Institute of Education and Zainab Adewale from the English Department.  While congratulating the finalists, Adejumo Kabir noted that the quality of the submissions is a testimony that the students have good skills that could land them a job in Nigerian Mainstream Journalism.  He stated that the reason for sponsoring the essay contest is to leave ...

50th Anniversary: ACJOAU holds Media Literacy Outreach, Partners Plogging Nigeria for "Clean Up OAU"

Ajibade Abdullah Adewale As part of the activities for the 50th anniversary and the International Campus Journalism Conference(ICJC), the Association of Campus Journalists On Wednesday, May 3, 2023, visited Urban Day Secondary School, Ile Ife to educate the students on the benefits of Media Literacy and the danger of Fake news.  Engaging the students, Adeyanju Michelle, a member of the association highlighted the advantages of media literacy. She educated the students on the danger of fake news and also put them through how to spot fake news.  In a related development, on Thursday, May 4, 2023, the association also partnered with Plogging Nigeria, a group promoting a culture of responsible waste handling and physical fitness in Nigeria for "Clean Up OAU" The activity had over 40 members who participated as they transitioned from one location to the other to ensure a waste-free environment.  Speaking on the activities, the President of the Association, Faith Alofe noted t...

Judicial Council Annuls Speaker's Suspension, Orders Reinstatement

  Following the suspension of the Great Ife Students' Representative Council Speaker, Ajadi Toheeb, in a congress held at Afrika Amphitheater on November 30th and after a news report issued by OAU KILONSHELE interrogating the Judicial Council of the justification of the Speaker's Suspension after summoning a parliamentary sitting on December 1st respectively.  The Judicial Council in a court sitting presided over by the Lord Chancellor, Hon. Justice Abiodun Adesanya, alongside other six Justices, held on December 13th has ruled that the suspension of the Speaker is unconstitutional, illegal and void after he took legal action and redress.  Stephen Tolulope   (PHOTO CREDIT: Instagram/ @greatife_su) The Chief of Defence Staff, General Lucky Irabor Commissioned the newly renovated Ken Saro Wiwa Students’ Union Building on Saturday, 12th November 2022, at the Main Hall, African Centre of Excellence, Obafemi Awolowo University.  The general who sponsored the renovation expressed that OAU has had a great impact on the life of many alumni and the country as a whole.   He charged the students’ Union body to have a clear direction with the capacity to lead.   In his remark, the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Simeon Bamire amidst welcoming the Chief of Defence Staff, appreciated the efforts committed to renovating the Students’ Union Building.  While being grateful that the renovation took place during his administration, he confirmed that this is the first time that the building will enjoy a comprehensive renovation.
