Adeniran Tolulope Students living in Obafemi Awolowo Hall of Residence have again, lamented the unavailability of water in the hostel. A Twitter user staying in the hostel, @kollydee4, tweeted that the issue continued this semester despite the protest that was done last semester.  Recall that, On the night of March 5th, 2024, it was reported that the Residents of Obafemi Awolowo Hall of Residence protested the unavailability of water in the hostel . This led to a temporary solution from the Students' Union, who in turn provided a tank of water to fill the reservoir at the entrance gate. While the situation persists, the students staying in the hall are again clamoring for water. Residents of Awolowo Hall had taken to the porters lodge yesterday night to express their frustration with the worsening water situation, especially during the exam period. However, during the address of Chairman of Awolowo Hall to the angry students, a promise was made to engage with the Students Union to provide a tanker of water for the hostel. OAU Kilonshele, tracked the progress of this promise and confirmed its fulfillment. Last night, a tanker was observed supplying water to the reservoir outside the hall of residence, providing students with much-needed access to water and students were seen fetching water from the reservoir both last night and this morning. Abdulbasit Abdulkareem In a demonstration of frustration over the persistent water scarcity plaguing Awolowo Hall of Residence, Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU), residents of Awolowo Hall took to the porters' lodge last night to voice their grievances as the residents staged a protest at the porters' lodge this night, demanding immediate action to address the persistent water scarcity on campus. Speaking with OAU Kilonshele, a resident of Awolowo Hall voiced the collective sentiment, stating, "Since the beginning of this semester, the hall has been grappling with a lack of constant water supply. We are protesting to demand changes and questioning the school authorities, the Students Union, and the Awo Hall executive on why there hasn't been consistent water supply to the hall." Abdulbasit Abdulkareem   In another development, the water crisis that plagued Awolowo Hall at Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU) has been resolved with the successful repair of the damaged pumping machine. Students are now relieved as they can once again access water in their residence. The Hall Chairman released a statement this afternoon at 4:15 pm, bringing the good news to the residents of Awolowo Hall. The statement reads, "This is to notify everyone that the borehole in block 8 has been repaired with a new pumping machine and now water has been restored." The swift action taken by the hall executives in repairing the pumping machine shows their commitment to addressing the needs and concerns of the students.  This was coming after several days of inconvenience for the residents of the hall. The students therefore appreciate the quick response and effective measures taken by the hall executives to ensure the prompt repair of the pumping machine.

Abdulkareem Abdulbasit   Students residing in Awolowo Hall at Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU) have been grappling with a severe water shortage in the past four days, due to the damaged pumping machine serving the hall.  In a statement released by the Awolowo Hall Executive, the Hall Executive issued an apology for the inconvenience caused by the lack of water says efforts to rectify the situation are underway, with the hall executives actively working to find a solution to the damaged pumping machineand the the hall warden and the Division of Students Affairs are also involved in addressing the distress faced by the students. In a meeting held earlier yesterday between the Division of Students Affairs and the hall leadership, it was disclosed that necessary measures are being taken to restore the damaged machine promptly.
