Adeniran Tolulope Students living in Obafemi Awolowo Hall of Residence have again, lamented the unavailability of water in the hostel. A Twitter user staying in the hostel, @kollydee4, tweeted that the issue continued this semester despite the protest that was done last semester.  Recall that, On the night of March 5th, 2024, it was reported that the Residents of Obafemi Awolowo Hall of Residence protested the unavailability of water in the hostel . This led to a temporary solution from the Students' Union, who in turn provided a tank of water to fill the reservoir at the entrance gate. While the situation persists, the students staying in the hall are again clamoring for water. Adeniran Tolulope   A Veterinary technologist, Mr Olawuyi Olabode, has died as a result of a lion attack at the zoological garden on Monday. The staff was feeding the lions in their den before the lion resorted to devouring the lecturer. Other staff, who were present at the zoological garden, made efforts to stop the lion from causing further harm, but the efforts proved abortive as the lion already caused severe fatalities.   The vice Chancellor, Professor Bamire, upon hearing the incident, ended an ongoing meeting with other members of the University management.  Debunking earlier claims that the lion escaped into the campus environment, the P.R.O. stated that the lion was euthanized thereafter. The Vice-Chancellor, Prof Simeon Bamire, therefore ordered an investigation to be carried out into the incident to find out the cause of the incident. Adeniran Tolulope The Physics and Engineering Physics Students' Association, Obafemi Awolowo University, has on Tuesday, January 23rd, orientated its new students, by inviting lectures in the department to offer them practical steps to follow for a successful academic journey they're embarking on. While speaking, a lecturer in the department, Dr Fadodun, encouraged the new students to believe in themselves rather than having a failure mindset, when it comes to their studies. He further emphasized that students should not depend on the opinions of others, but their opinions matter. Adeniran Tolulope   In response to the explosion that rocks Poplat Petrol Station in Lagere on Tuesday, 9th January, the Great IFE Students' Union, on Wednesday, paid visits to the Petrol station and other petrol stations in Ile-ife Vicinity.  The president of the Students Union, Abass Ojo made this known in a Parliamentary summit organized by the Faculty of Social Science Students' Representatives Council.  He noted that the leadership of the Students' Union in conjunction with the NANS Senate President, Babatunde AFEEZ, has visited the Petrol Stations in Ile-ife Vicinity to make sure the lives and properties of students of Obafemi Awolowo University are secured. Adeniran Tolulope   Toward the end of 2023, there was a trending report which stated that a Moremi Hall resident, was attacked at night by a male intruder. It was reported that the perpetrator was also a student, and that he was dressed in female attire.  It was even quoted by quite a significant number that he was sleeping by the side of the female student before he was caught, after which he struggled to keep the student silent. However, he couldn’t resist the defense which ensured the scenario didn't go uglier.  In just a week after the Moremi's incident, there was another male invasion which occurred at the Mozambique Hall of Residence. It was said that the victim of the incident, who held a lamp, made an attempt to shout to the public during the time it happened, late at night once again. Lawal Olanrewaju, Edun Precious The former Editor in chief of OAU Kilonshele, Oluwafemi Olabode have officially appointed Adeniran Tolulope as the new editor-in-chief of the OAU Kilonshele News Agency. This was disclosed during a meeting held by the news agency on Tuesday, December 5th.  Olabode Oluwafemi, while speaking, started by asking every member to briefly do a formal introduction before going to the main content of the program. Adeniran Tolulope The Great IFE Students Representatives Council, Friday, November 25, held its first sitting since the resumption of the students to campus and perhaps the inauguration of the members of the Students' Representatives Council at the Awo Cafe of the Obafemi Awolowo Hall of Residence.  During the sitting, a petition written by a former honorable member of the SRC from the faculty of Technology, Fawole Iyanuoluwa was read and passed on to the house but was countered and therefore scrapped. Adeniran Tolulope  The Great Ife Students' Union in its bid to ensure a significant reduction in the 2022/2023 academic session fees to be paid by students, both fresh and returning students called for a Congress to reach a consensus on demands to be tabled to the Management of the University in a meeting scheduled for Tuesday 19th September, 2023. Campaign loudly went on for a week before the election week. Candidates fared during the debates, and perhaps the election, whilst a single candidate emerged for each post contested. Adeniran Tolulope On Tuesday, the commercial shuttle bus drivers known as Town-gboro working within OAU axis boycotted work and went on a strike action due to the Naira exchange crisis and transportation prices. They continually halted activities in demand for an increase in transport charges. Meanwhile, on Wednesday, students, who were affected by the strike action, were stranded at the campus gate, as there were no buses to convey them to the university community. Students who narrated their ordeal said they were forced to trek to campus, as some classes were being held amidst the crisis.
