Moniepoint Launches N3 Billion Innovation Hub Initiative at OAU

Fintech company, Moniepoint , on Monday launched its Innovation Hub at Obafemi Awolowo University as part of a N3 billion investment aimed at strengthening technology talent development across Nigerian universities. The initiative was formally unveiled on Monday at Obafemi Awolowo University during a ceremony attended by vice chancellors of the three universities, industry stakeholders, student representatives, alumni, and members of Nigeria’s technology ecosystem. According to the company, the initiative will see Moniepoint establish innovation hubs across three federal universities over the next three years. The institutions selected for the project are Obafemi Awolowo University, University of Nigeria, Nsukka , and Ahmadu Bello University . OAU Youngest Professor Appointed New JAMB Registrar

The youngest professor at the Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU), Ile-Ife, Segun Aina, has been appointed as the new Registrar of the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. The appointment was announced by the Presidency through the Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga. Professor Aina will succeed Is-haq Oloyede, whose tenure is expected to end on July 31, 2026. Professor Aina, aged 39, currently serves as a Professor of Computer Engineering at OAU. His appointment makes him the youngest registrar in the history of JAMB, adding to his recognition as one of Nigeria’s youngest professors of Computer Engineering. OAU Alumna Donates Blind Sticks To Unilorin Special Needs Centre

  An alumna of Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU), Deborah Aderogba, has donated five blind sticks to the Centre for Students with Special Needs at the University of Ilorin (UNILORIN) as part of efforts to support visually impaired students within the institution. Deborah, who is currently serving as a corps member in the Department of French at the University of Ilorin, made the donation on Friday, May 15, 2026. The items were officially received by the Vice-Chancellor of the university, Professor Wahab Egbewole, SAN, on behalf of the Centre for Students with Special Needs. Speaking during the presentation, Deborah stated that the donation was inspired by her desire to give back to the university community and contribute meaningfully to the welfare of students living with disabilities.
