Electronic And Electrical Engineering Students' Society Elects New President, Other Executives

In an election held on Thursday, November 30, by the Electoral Committee of the Electronic and Electrical Engineering Students' Society at Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, students exercised their democratic right, where there was a total of 366 out of 543 eligible voters, marking a turnout of 67.40%.
While announcing the winner, the Electoral committee, through the Public Relations Officer of the committee, Odumakinde Ayomikun stated the distribution of votes across academic levels which showcased the engagement of students from various parts of their academic journey, with Part 5 recording the highest participation of 84.96 %, 37.73% in Part 1, 72.17% in Part 2, 84.47% in Part 3, 56.07% in Part 4.
The Electoral Committee also declared the election results which show the positions completed by the candidates alongside the number of votes the elected candidates got.
Adefolahan Rufus emerged as the President with 243 votes while Simeon Emeka secured the position of Vice President with an impressive 338 votes.
Other winners for each position include Okoli Henry Chidera clinched victory as Secretary General with 340 votes, and Aro Taiwo Hussein garnered widespread support, securing 327 votes as Assistant General Secretary.
Olaniyi Victor also emerged as Financial Secretary with 325 votes, Akinola Oreoluwa Yetunde secured the position of Treasurer with 326 votes, Okafor Kingsley triumphed with 209 votes as Director of Socials, Lawal Toheeb secured victory with 238 votes as Director of Sport, while Favour James emerged victorious with 252 votes as Librarian. Ilesanmi Peter also secured a decisive victory with 321 votes as PRO of the association.
