OAU Freshman Diaries: Navigating Campus Life

As we are welcoming a new academic year in the school calendar, we say a big welcome to all our freshmen coming in. Ogbà Femi is happy to have you. The university can be an exhilarating place but not without her distress and struggles.

For easy navigation around OAU campus and to keep you inclined to all her rules and regulations, what it is you have to do to not stay out of law and order, the university has provided an orientation program for you all. Faculties and departments will also be holding theirs. All of which are to make you familiar with the campus, provide you with academic resources and engage you in the student life. 

There are also social gatherings arranged for you freshmen in order to improve your social life on campus and also to mingle with freshers from outside your faculty or department. Even with these social gatherings, have it in mind that your academics come before them and that should be your top priority.

Ogbà Femi provides academic supports such as tutorials both from within and outside your faculty, different study groups among self, clubs and societies etc. These various academic supports can help you wherever you may be lacking in academics and also to boost your self confidence whether in communication or in the examination hall. 

Also, do not be afraid to approach senior students whenever you seek help as to academics or directions as to where a particular lecture theatre is located. This is a school of love, we embrace rather than shun.

Remember, your academic success is important and that's your top priority. Do not be swayed by the things you see here. Don't let the freedom you've gotten from home get into your head, do not misuse it. Academic activities, classes, the different courses you'll be taking, assignments etc are quiet rigorous here. They are a step higher than the ones you're used to in secondary school. You don't want to be playing when you should be reading or doing something else you shouldn't be doing. As a freshman, learn to balance between your academic, religious and social lives. 




We all at OAU Kilonshele welcome you once again to Africa's most beautiful campus, Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU). We are so eager to see you blossom, do great things and succeed academically.

OAU RELEASES FINAL LIST FOR 2017/2018 ADMISSIONS.

Friday, 12th January, 2018. By Olufemi Alfred .O.     In lieu of a recent publication by OAU KILONSHELE about the release of admissions list despite the strike, it has been gathered that Obafemi Awolowo University has submitted the final lists of admitted candidates to the Joint Admissions Matriculation Board (JAMB) on the 10th of January.     However, JAMB has began the uploading of the names on the Caps  section of the website as about 20 students have been confirmed by OAU KILONSHELE  to have been admitted      All candidates (Direct Entry and JAMB applicants)  , awaiting their names should log on to the JAMB website and check if they have been admitted.

OAU ADMISSIONS MERIT LIST UPLOADED ON JAMB WEBSITE.

      Few days ago, OAU KILONSHELE posted the release of Obafemi Awolowo University merit list for 2017/2018 admissions, it has been confirmed that some of the aspirants have seen their names on  JAMB's website.       Admission status can be viewed on the CAPS section of the website.           Below are the step by step procedures to access JAMB CAPS 1. Visit jamb.org.ng/efacility  preferably using a PC or chrome browser on mobile. 2. Login with the credentials( email and password) you created your jamb account with. 3. After successfully logging in, click on the options button ( the button with 3 dash) at the top of the page. 4. You'll see CAPS under the tag 'Admissions'. Click on it and you'll be taken to the CAPS page. 5. If the page only shows 'welcome', do not be discouraged. Just click on options on your mobile's browser and change the view of the page to 'desktop view'. This is why it's preferable to use a PC. 6.
