360 DEGREE STUDENT: Great Ife Students' Union Holds Symposium

Giving his opening remark, the President of the Great IFE Students' Union, Abass Ojo welcomed the new students to the Obafemi Awolowo University. He also commended the presence of invited Speakers, which include Mrs. Oluneye Oluwole, he noted that the students' union is ready to support the students emotionally, physically, financially, and in every aspect of their campus life.
The Vice President, Omoyosola Boluwatife, while giving the welcome address, commended the Freshmen for their presence at the Oduduwa Hall of Obafemi Awolowo University, for the Symposium of the Fresher's Week. She also noted that the students, out of their busy schedules, still make their time to be at the venue. She also encouraged the students to join groups, movements, or associations that suit their passions and interests.
While speaking, Mrs Oluneye Oluwole, the CEO Of Story Chest, congratulated the new students at the Obafemi Awolowo University as they started their new journey of being university students. The keynote speaker, Mrs Oluneye, noted that students must find Equilibrium and balance during their time on campus. 'To find that balance in your academic life, you must put equilibrium between your Academic Excellence, Personal Growth and Social Connections', she says. She advised the students to Set goals, manage their time, and also plan their academics.
The founder of OluneyeSpeaks, Mrs Oluneye noted that Leadership Development, Cultural Engagement, and Wellness are parts of the important things that help students prepare for the future during their time in school. 'You need to learn from your setbacks.', she said while speaking about one of the adversities to opportunities on campus, which include Resilience, Mental Health, and Self-reflection.
She further encouraged students to surround themselves with students who can help them achieve their goals and to build their spiritual life irrespective of their religion.
While speaking, Dr. Seun Fakorede, the Oyo State's former Commissioner of Youth and Sport, encouraged Students should build a Network of Quality Relationships and establish relationships with students like them, which aftermath will help them in the future, rather than being proud of themselves. He explained that Excellence is Achievable at all levels and students should show Examples of being a leader, Willingness to take the bull by the burn, and Storytelling.
He encourages the students to make good use of social media as a tool that helps showcase their experiences during their time on the OAU Campus and in the future.
Awards of Excellence were presented to the Founder of OluneyeSpeaks, Mrs. Oluneye Oluwole, and the Oyo State's Former commissioner of Youth and Sport, Dr. Seun Fakorede.
Present at the symposium venue are other members of the Students' Union Executive and the Students' Representatives Council.
