Robbery Attacks: OAU Management Downplays Police's Hope of Partnership.

The Police force's hope of quelling the consistent robbery atacks by fostering their relationship with the school management has been played down by the management.

OAU Kilonshele gathered that the police is hopeful to curb the robbery attacks soon by working with the management of the institution but this was played down in a conversation with the school Public Relations Officer.

Following the recent robbery attack that happened in Oduduwa estate, the police has made it known that they are working hard as ever to stop the robbery attacks.

The recent robbery attack that has been labelled as a very "easy ride" by some students was said to have been carried out with six cars.

Speaking with Temi, a resident in the estate, he said "they were about six cars, they came to rob in white house, Oduduwa estate. The last car was a benz 190 or so and their speed was mad."

Another resident that demanded anonymity said "white house has 7 rooms up, 7 down and I think only downstairs' residents were robbed and they carted away with properties."

Since the start of the robbery attacks, lots of properties have been taken, a life has been lost and lots of students have been badly injured.

The police area commander, Mr. Funsho Adegboye reiterated that the police are doing their best to stop the attacks.

"We're intenisfying our patrol, we have given out our phone numbers, we have increased our numbers of patrol in order to curb the attacks. Our hope is that in the next couple of days, weeks, we will lessen the attacks."

However, when Mr. Funsho was asked about the relationship with the management and his view on how they are handling the issue.

He said " I can't speak on behalf of the management, I can only speak for ourselves. The school is trying, they have promised to procure more vehicles to aid our patrol. I can't solve the dispersion rate, it is the duty of the school to build more hostels.

Meanwhile, reactions from the management are not in tantam with what the Police Area Commander is hoping and pushing for. The Vice Chancellor recent comment has been all about urging the robbers to fear God.

The spokesperson of the school also played down any hope of building hostels due to finance, also reiterated that the robbery being off-campus leasens the concern of the school security team.

In a conversation with OAU KILONSHELE, the spokesperson made it known that the school can not give what she does not have. "If the school has the money, the school will build hostels. You can't give what you don't have, that is why the school is calling on individuals and corporate societies to come and build hostels."

When asked about the security issue, he said "is Oduduwa estate on campus? If it's not part of the campus, you can't expect the school security to be there."
