Management of Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-ife, has published a special release against cybercrime on the institution's E-portal.

The release which was published prior to the EFCC visit to the university on Tuesday, 17th of September,  warned students not to engage in any act related to cybercrime nor directly or indirectly be a party to such acts.

"The Division of Student Affairs wishes to advise all OAU students to take special care while carrying out their online financial transactions and to shun all business activities that seems dubious or which you might not be comfortable discussing with family, friends and associates," the release stated.

Acts such as helping someone unfamiliar transacts financially and keeping money for fraudsters were listed as acts that should be avoided in the release.

The release was ended with "remember ignorance is not an excuse in a court of law. We strongly advise our Students to desist from any act that will affect their future negatively."

It should be recalled that OAU Kilonshele reported how agents of Special Anti-robbery Squad (SARS) busted hostels of students they deemed fraudsters last semester.

OAU Peeps, another campus agency, also reported how a team of EFCC led by Friday Ebelo, the chairman of the anti-graft agency zone in Ibadan visited the institution on Tuesday. The visit is said to be aimed at achieving the current chairman's anti-corruption visions.
