OAU: Students condemn 'stop and search' operation by school security personnel.

Following the demand for school ID cards before gaining entrance at the gate of Obafemi Awolowo University on Monday, students condemned the alien act of 'stop and search' by the school security officers.

Recall that this agency reported the students' reaction to the 2017/2018 academic session examination timetable the management released, which led to the social media campaign tagged #Black Monday.

Speaking with OAU KILONSHELE, one of the students, who sought anonymity, said this has never happened before as securiy officers have never demanded I.D cards from students before entering the University over the years.

He also added that last session that the management didn't issue I.D for students.
"Why didn't they do the same then? This is an hypocrisy," he lamented

Another student who witnessed the operation noted that some students were harassed while some missed their papers and others were delayed at the school gate.

"The school knew that the timetable is not favourable and that is why they've been trying to get rid of protesters after the #blackMonday was declared."

Meanwhile, one of the security officers, who refused to disclose his name, told our correspondent that the exercise was a normal security measure.
  
"This is a normal security measure that has   always been in place ever since the existence or this      University. I was once a student here before being     employed."
He explained that an average student need not be told before carrying about his/her means of identification.

"The management had in many occasions bailed students being sometimes arrested by police officials for one thing or the other just because they couldn't present an identification of the University with which they claimed to be students."

OAU RELEASES FINAL LIST FOR 2017/2018 ADMISSIONS.

Friday, 12th January, 2018. By Olufemi Alfred .O.     In lieu of a recent publication by OAU KILONSHELE about the release of admissions list despite the strike, it has been gathered that Obafemi Awolowo University has submitted the final lists of admitted candidates to the Joint Admissions Matriculation Board (JAMB) on the 10th of January.     However, JAMB has began the uploading of the names on the Caps  section of the website as about 20 students have been confirmed by OAU KILONSHELE  to have been admitted      All candidates (Direct Entry and JAMB applicants)  , awaiting their names should log on to the JAMB website and check if they have been admitted.

OAU ADMISSIONS MERIT LIST UPLOADED ON JAMB WEBSITE.

      Few days ago, OAU KILONSHELE posted the release of Obafemi Awolowo University merit list for 2017/2018 admissions, it has been confirmed that some of the aspirants have seen their names on  JAMB's website.       Admission status can be viewed on the CAPS section of the website.           Below are the step by step procedures to access JAMB CAPS 1. Visit jamb.org.ng/efacility  preferably using a PC or chrome browser on mobile. 2. Login with the credentials( email and password) you created your jamb account with. 3. After successfully logging in, click on the options button ( the button with 3 dash) at the top of the page. 4. You'll see CAPS under the tag 'Admissions'. Click on it and you'll be taken to the CAPS page. 5. If the page only shows 'welcome', do not be discouraged. Just click on options on your mobile's browser and change the view of the page to 'desktop view'. This is why it's preferable to use a PC. 6.
