The Vice Chancellor, Professor Eyitope Ogunbodede

The authorities of Obafemi Awolowo University, on Wednesday, invited Alumni of the university to speak on job creation at a gathering of graduating students.

While speaking at the Future CEOs event, the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Eyitope  Ogunbodede, said that virtually all the over 100 notable universities graduate students in their thousands but unfortunately, hardly had quarters of them get job opportunities.

Prof. Eyitope further added that bringing alumni of the university to speak to graduating students and for them to have a good synergy is the best way of solving this menace. "Synergy is the hall mark of job opportunities in the world" he said.

He added that the university is seriously planing to sharpen the entrepreneur skill on the great Ife campus.

Mr Biodun Adesanya,  the keynote speaker, in his speech said a bilateral conversation is the key to living above the present stage. And this kind of event help in the world synergy that you will need in the life after school.

Mr Adesanya further added that in life, Providence works and as expectant graduate, you have to embrace anywhere you might be posted thereafter to serve, this is because, it might be providence at work. "You move by Providence that is why we need to hold our relationship with God more closely" he said.

Mr Adesanya, while talking on the constant hurdles of life after school, said that the life after school is going to be another place to learn over and over again. "There, you will be students for life.  But, be wise and be diligent at all time". He advised.

The second speaker, Gbenga Sesan, stressed that, aside that the future of this country depends on how lecturers treat students and how the students response back to the schools, that it also depends on the future CEOs having to learn how to take responsibility.

In his words, it simply means that  one has to look for opportunities and not the other way round.  "Dreams are for free. So, dream big. That is what brings you to the timeline of opportunity. Until you passion is evident enough, it is not strong."

Mr Sesan, while addressing the issue of whether NYSC should be scrapped or not, he added that NYSC is the year that graduates collect money from the governement, financial opportunities and skills, to transport oneself  to find life.

"So, don't miss or mis-use the opportunity. Learn as much as possible as you can" he said.

He further added that, there is pressure at every stage in life the moment one is out of school, but Don't allow any form of pressure. Because, "...it won't help you in the world out there. Drive is what makes a different" Mr Sesan advised.
