INTER-FACULTY GAMES: OAU Assures Development And Continuity Of all Sporting Events.

The Director of Sports of Obafemi Awolowo University's sports' council, Abu Adamu, has  promised to work on the development of all sporting events on the university campus.

The Director, who disclosed this in an interview laslast week , stated that;

"Too much attention has been given to football in time past and we are going to put an end to that. Now we want to divert the attention to other sports as we've started in the inter-faculty games."

While speaking, he mentioned that there are 16 sporting events on OAU campus- Athletics, Basketball, Chess, Cricket, Football, Handball, Hockey, Judo, Squash, Taekwando, Scrabble, Table tennis, Lawn tennis, Badminton and Volleyball.

He buttressed saying that his efforts are geared towards replacing old athletes so as to avoid losing at competitions.

The Director, who concluded a grassroots development programme for secondary schools in Ife last two months, told our correspondent that the university is ready to support all sporting events to any level.

It should be recalled that this news outfit reported the university's Vice-chancellor promise to see to the development of other sports at the programme.

However, as gathered by our correspondent, many sporting events are done with their leagues. Volleyball, Handball and Lawn tennis played their finals last weekend.
