FEATURE: ACCOMMODATION POLICY CAUSES GRAVE SILENCE IN OAU HOSTELS.

An unimaginable silence fills the whole obafami Awolowo university Halls of residence since the resumption of the 2017/2018 academic session.
Sequel to the new accommodation policy of the university management, released by the Division of Students' Affairs aimed at decongesting the hostels, this action, has caused a turn around on the fun filled campus to an extremely calm environment.
On our visit to the 7 Halls, especially the male hostels, it's quite unbelievable that those halls could be as noiseless they are.
Awolowo Hall, which is said to be the bedrock of intellectualism and the home of outright sarcasm (arò) , was calm as calmness can be, only few indices show that people are around.
Few residents of this hall were Cross examined during a live telecast of a football match, which had only a hand full of Awo occupants and Fajuyi hall occupants compared to previous years, where kegs and stove containers are used as seats due to lack of space.
"though some aren't around, but, Awo is gone" Igwe concluded.
The case is of a similar stand in the female hostels too, though previously not as noisy as the male hostels, but definitely not as calm as it is now.
Ladies now have to sleep or read novels in replace of gist partners, who no longer reside on campus.
" it's getting so bored here, when there is no one to get on your nerves" A resident of Akintola said.
"can't imagine this life for a session" she lamented.
Stringent conditions were also put in place, like the use of hall I.D, before entering the halls. This really makes things a little bit strange.
Nevertheless, some student still show their delight in the new hall accommodation policy, which they said has brought serenity, order and peace to the halls and the campus at large.
" That's how I love it. I'm used to quiet environment".A resident of Moremi concluded.
