Monday’s crisis was a fight between the masses and the Cabal—Positive, Law Part 5

“The violence that occurred yesterday was that of injustice and justice, the masses and cabal” Akande Paul, politically known as Positive divulges to Oau Kilonshele today.

It was very disheartening when the students of Faculty of Law; the legal minds, Obafemi Awolowo University were reported to have assaulted one another during the course of election to unanimously vote for a representative for the post of Electoral commissioner as advised by the DSA as a process to reinstating the Students Union yesterday, 19th of September.

The supporters of Akande Paul (Positive) and Ayo Toluwalase (AY Toes) who were both the only contenders for the position at the Faculty engaged in a physical combat due to their respective reasons.

According to our correspondent who was present at the congress, Positive won AY Toes by a wide gap as evident to the blind; various hands were raised in support of Positive after few hands had been raised for AY Toes. Hence, the song of victory by Positive’s supporters before the votes were counted.
Surprisingly, at the time the votes were counted, AY Toes had 92 votes while Positive’s votes were with discrepancies as both 85 and 90 were counted by the PLO and the AGS of the Faculty.

“AY Toes and I were outside the voting room as the noise of victory by my supporters were going on. Even, like ten of AY Toes supporters came to meet me before the votes were counted that even if the votes were rigged, nothing would stop me from winning the election. Various students had already started congratulating me for victory till the votes were counted and results announced and everyone was shocked as I myself was bewildered” Positive speaks to Oau Kilonshele

When asked about if the shocked count of votes warranted the violence that occurred between his supporters and AY Toes’, Positive said;
“I contested with Ekpa Stanley for LSS Presidency and lost even though the results were contested by various conscious students of the Faculty. As a promoter of peace, all I could do was stand down. So, yesterday my supporters didn’t start the violence as supporters of AY Toes who have always been known for such act did. One of AY Toes’ supporters in person of Suleiman LLB two slapped an LLB two student for supporting me which was like adding salt to the unjust results announced. I would rather stick to violence of pen-writing than assault any other person”

As at the time of this interview, Positive was indecisive of whether he would be contesting for the election postponed till Thursday, 22nd of September which is probably going to be a secret ballot type of voting.
