Peter Oyebanji
Students of Obafemi Awolowo University living in Owode, an area in Modakeke suffered a robbery attack in the wee hours of Wednesday, 1st of May.
OAU KILONSHELE gathered that victims lost of over four phones and a significant sum of money to the attack.
The robbery was said to have started around 2am on Wednesday and took place in five rooms in a house nick named "green house."
Eyewitness reports has it that the attack was carried out by one person with harmful weapons as he went through each door threatening the occupants.
The robbery, however, was disrupted after the screaming and unexpected reaction of the 5th victim.
Abbas (surname witheld), an occupant and a victim said "he came into my room after I opened the door threating and laughing. He pointed a torchlight that stopped me from spotting his face but I could see the knife he held and the charm he wore. He went away with my phone, some people lost their phones and some cash.
Another victim who didn't state his name confirmed his shock at the manner at which the robbery took place.
"He came into the room laughing and forcing me to cooperate or else he would injure me and others. At a point, he threatened with acid; although, I couldn't see the acid but it scared me," He narrated.
Recall that this agency reported the previous robbery attacks with most happening close to the campus gate.
Meanwhile, when OAU KILONSHELE reached the Area Commander, Mr. Funsho Adegboye, he promised that the police is working assiduously to curb the menace.
"We're intenisfying our patrol, we have given out our phone numbers, we have increased our numbers of patrol in order to curb the attacks. Our hope is that in the next couple of days, weeks, we will lessen the attacks," he said.
With one robbery in more than three weeks, there seems to be a noticeable difference in the trend.
Meanwhile, the Students' union action commitee also took steps to quell the robbery attacks by holding a press conference in Osogbo and meeting with the vigilante's association.
