Welcome message to all Freshmen..

"Another phase of your life and academic pursuit is being admitted in to the university. It is a progress everyone wants to reckon with."

OAU Kilonshele News Outfit uses this medium to welcome freshmen to Obafemi Awolowo University, the great seat of intellectualism and cultural heritage. Undoubtedly, this is 'a dream come true' to many.

There are rules guiding your stay on campus, which some will be relayed to you during the orientation programme while you will learn others on your own- through interactions, observations and experiences.

As a 'freshman', have it at the back of your mind that your primary assignments on campus is your academics. Others are secondary. As a matter of fact, you are first a student before being a member of a students' association or body. That gives your studentship a priority above other things.

However, Four years ( 5-6 years in some cases) is too small to develop yourself in every ramification that you deem fit. Ensure the utmost maximisation of the limited time. In a twinkling of an eye, graduation will start knocking. Make sure you explore the available opportunities on campus. The ability to balance academics with other activities is what makes you a bright student.

Most importantly, now that you can now boast of the freedom you've always longed for, bear in mind that your actions and in-actions are what will make your university degree worthwhile. Wisdom should be your companion as you've kick-started another journey of your life. Remember it's your life and not anyone else's.

Moreover, don't be a lone ranger. People are meant to be helpful but they can't be if you fail to ask questions when necessary. Remember, no one is an island of knowledge. Ask questions when necessary and surely, you will be glad you did.

Conclusively, without getting you bored by repeating the wordings of your parents, we wish you a happy stay on campus and our earnest belief is that you will make a difference in the university community.

Once more, happy resumption!
