TIPS ON HOW TO MANAGE STRESS AS STUDENTS*

Students are one of the most common victims of stress. Stress can give rise to a host of serious problems such as depression and
anxiety. A survey shows that 65% of students feel stressed. Here are tips on how to manage stress. The most important are:

1)A VARIED AND HEALTHY DIET
Know that good nutrition and exercise can be very helpful. A diet rich in a variety of whole grains,vegetables, fruits and by avoiding excessive alcohol, caffeine and tobacco

2)GET A GOOD NIGHT SLEEP
Sleep is always the best medicine. As students we tend to spend too much time on social media. Social life is fun but too much of it can lead to stress.

3)MANAGE TIME AND STAY POSITIVE
Proper time management is one of the most effective stress-relieving techniques. You must be able to design and stick to a timetable. Things might seem bad,but if you try,there is usually something positive to be learned

4)ORGANISE YOUR ACADEMIC LIFE
Don't put too many eggs in one basket. Make a list and sort them out one by one. Keep track of all deadlines, stress can be reduced to a great extent.

5)STOP PROCRASTINATING
Get the most difficult tasks out of the way first. Most people procrastinate because they dread the task they are putting off

6)SPEND TIME WITH FRIENDS
Stress can get worse if a person feels lonely. Sometimes,expressing your feelings helps lower your stress

7)LISTEN TO MUSIC
If you are feeling stressed, putting on some calming music while you work could really help

8)DO SOMETHING YOU LOVE
Not taking life too seriously can help everyone live a better and easier life. Make time for yourself

9)KNOW AND ACCEPT YOUR LIMITS
Are you taking a full course load, working part time and involved in a lot of activities?Learning to say no is an important part of reducing stress and will help you focus on what's really important.
