OAU Giants topple UI Pioneers in national football game

In the return leg of the football match organized by the Higher Institution Football League ( Hifl) Obafemi Awolowo university (OAU) Giants won against the Pioneer University of Ibadan (UI)
The match which was sequel to the first leg played at UI with a tie of 3 vs 3, started at around 4:05pm, with an edge for OAU, since its their home play. " this is our game, since we played draw in their home" Olaposi, one of their players said.
In attendance was the Vice chancellor, Obafemi Awolowo university, Prof Eyitope Ogunmodede , Dean of student affairs, Prof Aransi and other Director of sports. The V.C congratulated the players on the display of their talent with maturity
Speaking to Match commissioner of Hifl, Salisu Umar, he applauded their success for the peaceful match conducted. He stated that the organization is newly created, and that the competition is intended to seek raw talents from Nigerian university.
" the player from both schools displayed high level of skills today" He claimed.
Also in our interview with
the OAU football coach, Egbunu-Olimene Chike , based on the claims of the UI counterpart, he started that
" we can only make do with what we have" he stated. He furthered saying that we desired winning, and we got it."
He then advised his players not to bask in the euphoria of the moment. " The games ahead are behind the south western universities. It's a national league." He said
.
In an interview with journalists, the OAU player, who was awarded the man of the match, Olumofe Seyi, expressed his gratitude for the opportunity given to participate and he promised to keep up with the standards in subsequent matches.
"I feel fulfilled. This is just the starting point we are surely going to win this league."
The OAU director of sports, Abu Adamu, promised to help the team get to the top of the league with the support of the University. "The Vice-Chancellor has assured us of his maximum support after today's match." Mr. Adamu
The match came to end at exactly 6:02 pm, with the scores of 3 vs 0, giving the OAU giants an aggregate of 6 vs 3 victory over the pioneer university of Ibadan, which takes UI out of the league.
The winner of the HiFL will represent Nigeria at the 2019 International University Sports Federation Games in Naples, Italy.
