Dosunmu Ayodeji

The Director Osun National Drug law enforcement Agency (NDLEA), represented by Prince Kelvin chucks, stated that parents, government and every individuals are to be blamed for Drug abuse in our society.

Speaking at the induction ceremony of the Drug Free Club in Obafemi Awolowo University,
he stated that the rate of drug consumption among youths is alarming; to the extent that many now find solace in drug usage, which they think is helpful, but rather destructive.

"Opioid abuse affect other organs like fire." He said.

" If well recalled, just last week, Trucks worth of about 2billion naira worth of Codine was banned. Though there are both International and local legislation against drug misuse, we still get people as victims of such act. Why? Youths even go to the extent of dropping little content of drugs in their soft drinks, just to keep them in tune."

"Most, at the end, experience severe anxiety, recurrent hospitalization, while some might eventually get jailed. Sanctions now don't serve as deterrent." Prince Kelvin noted.

The club, whose goal is to work towards a drug free world, inducted about 44 new members, sequel to the 83 that applied and wrote the qualification test.

Furthermore, pharmacist Jegede, prince Chucks alongside with other guests never cease to note that negligence on the part of the parents and government landed  the society in a situation of excessive drug abuse; when parents get to busy for their parental roles, and government didn't give priorities to such issues.
