Group of traditionalists spotted staging protest at motion ground

Ife indigenes resumed protest today, the 21st of March 2022 at 6a.m and hindered movement in and out of the main gate of Obafemi Awolowo University.

The protesters asked students and other stakeholders to go back to their hostels and homes. Phones of students attempting to make videos of the incident were reportedly seized. People who attempted to force their way into the school were allegedly beaten.

The protesters were found carrying banners saying “Ife4VC”. A banner was spotted at the school gate reading “Ogunbodede tell lies against Ife. He is a betrayal and a traitor.”

A group of traditionalists were also sighted among the protesters chanting traditional songs. It was reported that these traditionalists were found parading at motion ground on the school campus.

Students of the university have been expecting an official address from the school authorities on the recent occurrence as their safety is being threatened. However, as at the time of filing this report, the Great Ife Students' Union in its press release signed by the Public Relation Officer, Ogunperi Taofeek demanded that the University should be shut down, if the protests fail to wear off in 72 hours.
