OAU's Federation Of Ibadan Students' Union Holds Amala Day, Honours DSA Dean

The Federation of Ibadan Students' Union, Obafemi Awolowo University,  (FIBSU), under the administration presided  by Ajani Oluwakayode Jamiu - held its event tagged 'Amala Day & Award Ceremony' in honour of the Dean of Students' Affairs OAU, Prof. Isiaka Olalekan Aransi, at Ajose lecture theatre on Thursday, 16th September 2021.


The ceremony which started at the early hours of the day had in attendance, the chief honoree, Dean of Students' Affairs, Prof. Isiaka Olalekan Aransi - Chairperson of the day, Prof. Olubola Babalola  represented by Engr. Alao - the guest speaker, an associate professor in the department of building - Dr Akeem Wahab and Mr. Bukola Omotoso. Also in attendance was the Great Ife Students' Union President-elect, "Reform" and "Great Sam," the incoming Secretary-General.


The chairperson of the occasion represented by Engr. Alao in his welcome address felicitates the Union. He charged the students to portray themselves as good representation in all their endeavor and also be of aid to one another particularly the less privileged, low academic performing  ones among them. He further urged them to be hardworking and contented. 


The event featured presentation of award to the Dean of Students' Affairs OAU, Prof. Isiaka Olalekan Aransi. President of the OAU Federation of Ibadan Students' Union (FIBSU), Ajani Oluwakayode, in his Presidential speech, stated, "We are gathered here today to celebrate our father, mentor and a great teacher, Professor Isiaka Olalekan Aransi, for his tremendous contribution to humanity. As against the general view that Nigerians celebrate people when they're dead, we at the Federation of Ibadan Students' Union Obafemi Awolowo University took it upon ourselves to give Prof. I.O Aransi this honor during his lifetime."


Prof. Isiaka Aransi in his remark extended his appreciation to the association. The 'Amala Day' ceremony featured dancing, merriment, music, rendering of eulogy, amala & ewedu eating competition, airtime/cash giveaway,  and award of scholarship to thirty-five (35) student-members of  Federation of Ibadan Students' Union OAU
