The management of Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-ife through the office of the Dean, Division of Students' Affairs (DSA), Professour I.O. Aransi, has fixed the deadline for the vacation of hostels in preparation for 2018/2019 session.

The management, in a release put out in order to clarify the rumour that students have been asked to vacate the halls of residence revealed that students are allowed to stay till Friday, 22nd of February.

It was stated that only students undergoing SWEP/SIWESS and Teaching Practice and who have demanded to stay on campus are allowed beyond the deadline.

"The attention of the DSA has been drawn to the rumour making rounds that students have been asked to vacate hostels. This is not true as there has been no release from this division before now to that effect, bearing in mind that some students are still engaging in legitimate academic and examination exercise."

"However, students are allowed to stay in the halls of residence till Friday, 22nd, Feb, 2019. Only students on SWEP/SIWESS and Teaching Practice who have indicated willingness to stay on campus are allowed beyond the date."

The release also noted that students on SWEP/SIWESS have been instructed to register with their coordinator.

"The students concerned have been instructed to register their interests with their coordinator."

Meanwhile, It should be recalled that, last session, this issue resulted in a protest that led to some students being detained, arraigned and reprimanded. The management sent everyone out of the halls of residence, including the students on the special programmes that are exempted on this release.
