The Division of Students' Affairs (DSA), Obafemi Awolowo University, has clarified a release that requires students to pay for bed space before the allocation which was put out by the Registrar, Mrs Omosule.

In the release that circulated online on Sunday, the office of the Registrar instructed students to pay for all appropriate fees, including accommodation fee before qualifying to bid for bed space in the 2018/2019 session.

"Fresh undergraduates and final year students will apply for Bed Space Allocation placement directly on the eportal after payment of appropriate fees, including accommodation fee."

"Candidates will be required to print 3 copies of Bed Space Clearance Forms from the eportal which must be duly signed by the student and the Hall Warden. The forms will be administered as follows:   (i) Students are required to keep one  (ii) Submit one copy to the Dean, Student Affairs  (iii) Submit the third copy to the Hall Warden to qualify him/her to OCCUPY the bed space allocated. Please note that failure to submit the Bed Space Clearance Forms as stipulated automatically disqualifies the Bed Space Allocation."

Meanwhile, when a correspondent of this news outfit conversed with Prof Aransi, the Dean of DSA, he clarified the school's position as regards the issue.

He said, "you know, not all of you will be given accommodation. It is only those who secure accommodation that will pay for accommodation. You will pay your school fees and you secure accommodation then you pay for accommodation, that is the way to go. Otherwise, if you pay, to refund it will be a problem."

However, in the bidding timetable released, Part 4 and 5 students are to apply on Friday, 8th of February while part 2 and 3 are to bid on Saturday, 9th of February. Both by 6pm.
