FRESHMEN REGISTRATION: OAU DSA TO SANCTION ASSOCIATIONS CHARGING ABOVE REGULATED FEE.

The Dean of the Division of Students Affairs (DSA) of Obafemi Awolowo University, Prof. Isiaka Aransi, has warned departmental and faculty associations  collecting above 500 naira as association dues from Freshmen.

The warning issued through a Special release, dated 3rd of May, stated that associations who flout the rules will be punished accordingly.

Also, "those who have collected beyond the limit should refund with immediate effect."

"Any student who has paid more than the approved due should insist on collecting the overpayment. If denied the right, should report such association to the DSA." the release buttressed.

More so, the release was addressed to registered associations on campus and unregistered ones should not collect dues until after registration with the DSA.

However, as confirmed by OAU KILONSHELE, some departmental and faculty associations have flouted the rule by charging exorbitantly.

According to an eyewitness, "the Faculty of science executives are collecting #6000, while the department of Molecular biology and biochemistry is collecting #2500."
